Fell run (Fairfield Horseshoe) 2:03:59 [4] 10.2 mi (12:09 / mi) +894m 9:33 / mi
shoes: Walshes 2nd pair

Not done Fairfield before, and it was a club champs, so thought I'd turn out. Start was a bit frustrating, very congested and was too busy yakking so started a bit far back and had to do a lot of overtaking on narrow trods early on. Also the first bit of the route was a different way to I had ever been before, so I wasn't sure how far along we were til we got to Nab Scar. Felt like I climbed well, was within sight of Jean/Socks and Maz at the top. Got past Jean on the rocky downhill bits then legged it to make a gap (Maz had, of course, vanished). Mostly picked pretty good lines (messed up avoiding the rock step slightly, but didn't lose much), and got followed/complimented on by descending ability by several men at the finish, ha. Unfortunately about 4 of them got past me on the track, but hey ho. Had a bit of a fall on the descent, but luckily on the grass and bounced back up.

8 minutes behind Jenn (who admittedly didn't have a great run) and 7 behind Zoe. Pretty happy with that

Biking 1:23:17 [3] 16.24 mi (5:08 / mi) +303m 4:51 / mi

Since fluceluce had the van in Ambleside and was coming to stay, I rashly decided to cycle into work and get a lift home. Woke up and it was chucking it down, so nearly bailed, but it dried up by 7.30 so womaned up and did it anyway. Had forgotten about the first hill out of K-town, and the bike wouldn't shift into the big ring for quite a while, but once I got past those obstacles it was mostly ok. Bum was sore by the time I got to Ambleside and I was hungry, raided the biscuit tin as soon as I got to the office.

Swimming 30:00 [2]

Swimming in Rydal after work with fluceluce and Kelly Roberts. Rydal is weird, the water has lots of very variable temperature patches.

Swimming 20:00 [2]

It was not as warm as it looked this morning. In particular, there was a brisk wind which made it both chilly and meant waves kept smacking me in the face. Still, progress.

Running 50:50 [2] 4.28 mi (11:53 / mi) +275m 9:54 / mi
shoes: Kanadia TR7 2

Out up Walla via deployment of a static bat detector. Bat detector plus associated security gear was heavy, moved faster once I'd got rid of it!

Back again, with a heavier rucksack

Note

Summit marshalling Latrigg in the evening, so stomp up and down the Mont with a rucksack

Biking 1:14:40 [2] 13.6 mi (5:29 / mi) +130m 5:20 / mi

Out to Thornthwaite then back via the Swinside. One glute and same-side calf very tight so didn't want to run. Bit achey when cycling
