Fell run race (Carrock Fell) 1:10:00 [4] 9.51 km (7:22 / km) +468m 5:54 / km
shoes: Blue Mudclaw 265s

Wetter than an otter's pocket. Nice la'al race, longer than usual due to a diversion to cross the river which was in full spate. Super duper claggy too which meant I was fighting to keep people in sight, not really knowing where I was going. The uphill would be runnable on a nice day, today I was managing quite a bit of it but really putting effort into walking when I was walking. Was glad to reach the top so I could stretch out and run a bit, but was struggling with the bog and headwind. Lots of annoyingly long legged blokes overtaking me here who didn't seem to be suffering with the wind like I was. There were people all over the place below High Pike, so out came the map. Got to the top of High Pike fine, then tried to take a maverick line that Cat had mentioned but think I misremembered it - note to self, drawing routes on the map is helpful!! So didn't commit properly to the maverick line and ended up contouring all the way round the side of the hill and not seeing anyone for at least ten minutes. Honestly thought I was completely last when I came round the shoulder of the fell and couldn't see anyone at all. Was a bit happier when I finally neared the finish and saw people, including people I usually finish around.

Fun race, looking forward to Long Mynd next week now!
