Note
slept:10.0 (injured)

My hip hurt a little bit during the GP. But afterwards I hardly could walk normally.
(lacking strenght training? Paved roads - which I'm not used to? Lack of long trainings?)

Event: GP Bern

4 PM

running race 1:20:01 [4] 16.09 km (4:58 / km) +247m 4:37 / km
slept:8.0 shoes: Asics Enduro

Aimed for 1:19:59 - so 2 seconds too slow. But a new best time anyways ;-)
2006: 1:23:03
2009: 1:20:50
2011: 1:20:01

Everything was great till k12. Felt very good and enjoyed the race. My hip was hurting a little bit from k6, but that did not get worse further on.

At k12, the pacemaker for 1:20:00 who had started with me passed by, and I was surprised and a bit frustrated, because up to then I had thought to make it even for a time below 1:18:30 (but had no exact watch - mistake number 1).

I still had reserves, so decided to follow him - which perhaps was mistake number 2.

The speed was a bit hard on the uphill part now, but from Zytglogge, where it started to go down again, I could easily follow - till I got a very bad stitch at k14. The last part down and then up the Aargauer Stalden, I was very slow, because it hurt so much, and I had problems breathing. Loads of people passed by, and I lost around 2 minutes from there to the finish. Mistake number 3 was not to walk for half a minute for the stitch getting better - would finally have lost less time.

At the end of the Aargauer Stalden, it was a bit better, and I increased the speed again. But because even a new best time did not seem into reach anymore, I did not fight too much - still fighting the stitch. -> mistake number 4.

When turning around the curve before the finish line, I could hardly believe it, when I saw that the time still would be close to my goal (because I started late in my block, I did not know exactly). So I gave all I had for the last 50 meters, and at the finish, I was happy again, because I knew it still would be a personal best time for sure.
That pacemaker had run below 1:18:00 ... grrrr ;-)
