Overall, I'd say I'm satisfied with my race. I'm most pleased with my physical performance as I was able to run as hard as I wanted the entire race. I felt fantastic on the trail sections to 5 and 6.
The Bad:
Route to 1 could have been improved. I wish I had gone straight for the first part, then right for the second. It would have meant a bit more climb in the second half of the leg, but I think that route was better. Also, I did not look at my map nearly enough once I got on the trail that would take me the rest of the way to the control. I didn't really have a plan, but I knew that once I saw a road, I had gone a bit too far. That's what ended up happening. I should definitely have been focusing more.
For 7, I think it would have been better to run up the spur, but that's only based on hindsight. The trail I followed was pretty useless, and the climb itself was so rocky I had to use my hands to make sure I didn't die. The rock was mapped, but I didn't think it would be that bad.
I made a parallel error on 8 and wasn't able to recover. I didn't have a very good plan for this leg. I got distracted by Giovani who passed me on the way up to 7, and I just wanted to get back in front of him. The leg wasn't particularly difficult and if I had been reading my map more, I probably would have done fine.
I left #11 at a bad angle, but I was able to recover.
The Good:
My route to 2 wasn't that fast, but I still like it. It was definitely more around that I should have done, but the approach was fantastic, and I had good technique when choosing the leg and simplified it well.
5 and 6 were trail runs, and I recognized it quickly then pushed hard on the trails and was able to maintain my pace.
I managed to keep myself on track after screwing up 8 and while I pushed a little harder, I maintained mental control.
