Orienteering (Line-o) 1:04:29 [3]

Dad got the Lidar data for the county. Made a 1:7500 with 3m contours then drew a line. It was actualy really good. The woods were roughin a few paces but the map (for the most part) was dead on! I did well and never really got off the line.

Running long 1:26:18 [3] 15.5 km (5:34 / km)
ahr:174 max:213

I'm pretty sure that the max HR is wrong... I was only running up a little hill. I'm thinking mor malfunctions...oh well!. I felt slow running and my hip hurt a bit, but nothing to prohibit me. I just ran 3 laps around the new 5k course at catamount but i'm pretty sure (my dad and I agree) that it was more than 5k... It was the perfect temperature, though, which was very nice.

Strength (Kemp W.O.) 10:00 [5]

Nothing like a good old strength workout to wake you up for the SATs!

Note

I should log 4hours at zone 5 for the SAT... but I've decided against it because it's not physical training or a race. It is the mental equivalent of a race, though. Is there a section in AP for technical training? Only kidding, i do hate the SATs though. After the first break, I was very sure that I would not be going to college, after the math sections, though, i felt much better! :)

Running (Hills) 53:11 [3] 9.79 km (5:26 / km)

Medium hills today. 4 min each, not quite as steep, though. I ran 4 min on the first then 4:30 on the next 2 thinking I would do the last one for 3 min (keeping my total of 20 min) but as I was jogging back down to start the fifth hill, I decided not to cheat myself out of the last 4 min. Just to ensure that, I ran the hardest one yet! haha I was running them based on time, not distance. 5x4min hard for 20 total was the goal, ended up with 21 hard... Oh no!

Running race 5:24 [5] 1.6 km (3:22 / km)

1600 on the track. It was the perfect temperature too. A little windy but that was tolerable. I'm very glad I subbed 5:30 too

Note

I noticed I was caughing and sneezing more than normal today... I know the tree buds are starting to come out (if that means pollen..) but I don't have any alergies... to my knowledge anywya.

Running 43:06 [3] 8.16 km (5:17 / km)
ahr:173 max:204

A slower run than I would have liked... but oh well. I felt like I was going faster, and I know that distance isn't perfectly accurate, either. The high heartrate is very odd as well, maybe another malfunction?? I brought a map (again) but I didn't read it as much as I should have. I'm learning I'm reluctant to read a map that isn't off that particular area...

Running intervals 41:39 [4] 9.29 km (4:29 / km)
ahr:174 max:198

Coach's training. The workout was a three way compromise between my dad, Coach Jeff, and Alexi (crazy russian...). My dad wanted me to run intervals and Jeff wanted me to run at my threshold pace. I ended up doing 900m (don't ask why) intervals at 6:30 pace with 30 seconds in between. That satisfied my dad and Jeff. For Alexi, I stared (read) my map a few times during each interval.

Interval trimes:
1) 3:25
2) 3:20
3) 3:23
4) 3:29
5) 3:33
6) 3:30

So i definately slowed down... It was hard, though. Harder than I expected. It also happened to be pouring. Ok, it wasn't that bad, but certainly wet. I'm not sure if that helped or hindered, though...

As far as the map reading goes, I felt I was reading the map well. I tested myself by moving the map around. I was still able to get general details (hills, large spurs and reentrants, water features, trails, etc.) but nothing specific unless I slowed my pace down a little bit.

Running 39:15 [3] 7.21 km (5:27 / km)
ahr:172 max:190

Drove to the Mud Pond map (which i made) and ran on the trails there. I decided to take a map along, so naturally I grabbed my Pawtuckawa WHNO map because it's impossible to read even with a microscope. It was good while I was running. The trail was narrow and windy so I didn't have long to look at my map before I had to dodge a tree. I was able to read a lot better than I thought, but that may be because it was on trails. It was really hot so I ended up leaving a few lbs out in the woods. It's ok, though. I've had enough water that I think my net weight change is positive.
