Running 54:52 [3]

Took a trip to Lucerne, went up my Pilatus and saw one of the 72 peaks you're meant to be able to see when there's no fog, and then caught the boat back and went for a run along the river.
10x 1min surges thrown in. Had quite a bit of sun and struggled a bit with the heat so wasn't feeling real fast. Legs are still feeling a bit heavy from the plane I think but I'm not feeling jet lagged so that's nice!

Got in at 8am. Walked around the city a little before we could check in and shower, and then took a train to see a view of the city and jogged along the ridge to take a cable car back down. Head is feeling a little sniffly still but nowhere near as blocked thank goodness. Now 5pm and i'm so gone. I love Zurich though!

Jogged around the short course. Still feeling pretty crappy in the head but i had to do something! Super fast terrain so it was a little hard to not let myself get carried away and run faster. My confidence and compass work were both pretty shocking even going slow. Really enjoyable course though!

The vit c overdose didn't work, have caught a head cold. I have been sick more times this year than ever before, if someone could tell me why so I could make it stop that'd be great! :(
Was meant to do hills but too close to leaving time to still do it when I'm not 100%, so just a little bit of strength.

Out at Walka with two 15min tempo efforts in the middle. Legs were feeling a little stiff from yesterday and they tired a bit at the end but i felt relatively strong. Happy to hold the pace into the wind too, its so strong again today! Drills at the end too.

11x 300m, was to do 10 but got conned into a free one at the end. We just ran whatever session would let us cut out the straight into the wind. It was so strong, and pretty cold tonight too! Felt OK, the first two were a little slow but the rest were 60-62. Top company!

Post Jukola viewing run with Josh and #comebackkas. Rained all day and we were a bit hesitant to do the planned long run so we ran over to walka from home. Started off steady but because it was shorter Josh picked up the pace quite a bit in the second half. The last minute had me done! Enjoyable and really good for me I think!

5x 3/1 on the tracks at walka. Been such a long time since I've done a session like this! A bit disappointed, I feel like I should've done them faster and I felt pretty shitty trying to run hard. Couldn't hold my pace either and the last two got slower. My stomach wasn't loving the food I ate when I got home from work which didn't help I guess, couldn't leave it any later to run because of the dark though.

Nice and easy morning effort in the fog. The last 15 or so minutes was just looping around trying to make up time but it was still enjoyable, always is when you don't care about pace and just have a nice run around. Didn't realise how cold it was until i finished and my arms were bright red.

Spur of the moment decision to join dad on his 28min loop. Had just devoured a cuppa and peanut butter on rice cakes so was expecting to feel a bit yuck but it was fine. He's found a nice loop to run on! Although the time estimation was falsely advertised.

Really enjoyable sprint I thought. Tricky in the buildings and not too much dead running. Lost 20 seconds on the last two controls because I stopped planning ahead, silly silly. Surprised that my legs felt alright after yesterday!

Orienteering race (QB3 day 2) 55:50 [3]

Not really my cup of tea today. Really enjoyed the first four or five but then got a bit sick of how much of a running race it felt like and how little navigation was involved. In saying that I lost time on 6 and 9 so I feel like a bit of a fool. Some positive splits though, I just need to work on my compass and knowing how far I've gone.
Also saw the biggest snake I have ever seen, and fairly confident it was digesting another animal by the size of the lump in the middle of it. Ugggggh!

Orienteering race (QB3 day 1) 42:36 [3]

Bit of a shocker of a start. Messed up number 2 and came into it from the opposite angle I had planned and then rushed out with my planned exit direction and did a complete 180. So so so silly, not sure of the last time I did that while orienteering!! Lost about 4minutes there. Made a few more errors in the end, mainly just stopping early and lack of confidence. But there were some pleasing splits in there! Super fun course though, sand dunes two weekends in a row is the dream!!

Little bit of core work because I felt like it had been way too long!

From mum's school to Walka. Almost perfect duration once I got out there and did one of the longer loops. Legs not feeling sore but maybe still a little bit tired after the weekend. Ate waaaaaay too much during the day while procrastinating from uni work, but apart from feeling a tad rough in the belly it was good fun.

Bit of a shocker. Felt a bit better in the dunes but made loads of mistakes and then was just really iffy on the ones I didn't make mistakes on. The water threw me and I was so slow in the thicker stuff. Got too tired towards the end and lost time on every control after the spectator. Ohhhhh well, still feel like I learnt alot this weekend.

Orienteering race (NZ QB day 2) 1:33:07 [3]

Started off in a better mind frame thankgoodness. Was nervous but the first few controls were super tricky so it was good I was being a bit hesitant. Drifted wide on 13 which wouldn't have been too bad but then I messed it up after i had relocated. 23 was the huge mistake though back on the beach. Didn't really have a good technique for it and couldn't make sense of the distinctive trees and thickets and mistook some bushes as mounds and ended up way off. Went out after with Warren and walked the leg backwards about 5 minutes faster than I had run it... But that was super helpful!

Absolutely butchered the first control which was less than 100m. Had just psyched myself out so badly and didn't even think about what i should be navigating by I just looked at the terrain and freaked out. Felt alot more comfortable once I was out of the open areas but managed to make a few more mistakes. Need to be more confident!
