Park Orienteering race 29:33 [3]

Park o event two!

I was pleasantly surprised with the map, i could only remember the park being super open but i really had to navigate and use my compass in the green. I made errors on 3 and 8, i justt was a tad to the side of the controls and couldn't pick which tree each was on. I also messed up number 14, i actually got to 23 before hand, i think i got caught drifting around the thicker stuff and didn't have my exit direction.

Running intervals 15:00 [3]

Terrain ints. I went to a new spot today which was nice.
I did, 3 min, 2 min, 90 sec, 60 sec, 30 sec. With two minutes recovery between each. There was a small bit of hill in each too, which was good.

Warm up/down 18:00 [3]

The warm up was just running around to try to figure out a loop i could do, then the warm down was a bit of a loop in the streets.

Swimming 30:00 [3]

3 sets of ten laps again, but at the end i decided to do butterfly, backstroke, breastroke and freestyle just to make sure i could still do it all. And i didnt drown :)
It was really nice today, there was only one other guy in the pool with me!

Orienteering 45:00 [3]

Last Oshea event, the score course.
I think Angus and i seemed to split the course pretty well! I had the northern loop, and we got back about a minute apart i think it was which was really cool! Pretty happy with my navigation today thank goodness, but i did struggle to get myself going on some of the hills. We both had a looooong track run at the end, and i wanted to make up for the fact that i may have walked a bit of a hill or two and tried to pump it a bit at the end. We ended up winning!! GO TEAM! :D hah
Oh and once again not too sure on my actual time, i lost my splits...

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3]

Im not sure how correct the time is, it was a bit of a guess.
But first race of the Oshea, i ran second, Angus was the best partner and had a brilliant run. However i messed up a control or two and we were behind. It was about control 8 i think which was the bad one, i lost a very indistinct track and then was in the wrong watercourse and didn't realise for ages because the vegetation on the hill was not what i expected at all. Then the last control was a bit of a shocker too, my exit direction was awful. Not to mention the weather, sooooo much rain! it was insane!!!!

Night Orienteering 52:59 [3]

It was really dark and there was rain and thunder and lightening and leaches and i didnt really like it... I struggled alot to see anything other than the rain infront of me, i had no idea even when i was on a track. The start of it in the buildings was great, but as soon as we got into the bush i just struggled alot. Plus, the tracks as well as the watercourses were like rivers which made it that bit more challenging. I was doing the long course, Angus on the medium and because only one of our times was going to count i actually abandoned after the 50 minutes, first time ever i think... :( But i feel like it was an alright course to let myself do it on.

Running intervals 15:00 [3]

Pyramid ints ; 100 200 300 200 100. 2 mins rest between.
Times were 21, 38, 61, 39, and 18. I was pretty happy with how it went i think, i tried to focus on a good running style, i'm not sure how successful i was though.

Warm up/down 18:00 [3]

About a 10 minute warm up and then warm down and stretches. Perhaps a tad slack with the warm down, but it was raining...

Park Orienteering 27:17 [3]

Park-o series event 1! It was great to start back, i always enjoy the park series and with SI now its even better! It was pretty tough, i suppose you expect that from King Edward park though. A tad disappointed with my exit direction and planning ahead, plus i was not used to the scale at all at the start and overran control 5 heaps, but I wont so silly next week :)

Running intervals 30:00 [3]

Terrain Intervals at Walka straight after school. It was tough, especially as the only real time i could do it was around 1pm. 3 x 6:30 intervals with 4 minutes rest, and i just went around the same loop trying to get the same distance each time. There was a pretty slight hill at the end in the open which was quite painful, i miss when they were 5 minute intervals... aha.

Warm up/down 10:00 [3]

I was probably a bit too weak with this, it was hot and i struggled.

Running long 1:05:24 [3]

Im super happy, i know its sad but this is the longest run ive been able to do in i dont even know how long. And it was out at sugarloaf so it wasnt exactly flat either. I had to do a bit of back and forth running to get it up to 65 minutes, but that was alright because it meant i didnt slack off.

All these snake stories are really bad for me to hear though, i freak out with every little noise i hear in the bushes now... hah

Strength + Conditioning 15:00 [3]

A strength session before work. I usually repeat it and do it twice in a session, but i was having problems with my back and i didnt think that was a good thing before work where id just have to stand all day. I thought i could do another after netball, but i wasnt feeling it.

Netball 40:00 [3]

I got to play midcourt for a quarter because we only had two guys there, it was great. I went GD, GD, GS, WD.
They weren't the nicest oponents, one of my friends got yelled at by a 40 year old man because he accidently hit him. Aparently the guy wouldve "taken him on if they were playin' tackle!", so that was kind of funny to listen to :P

Running hills 10:00 [3]

5 hills, each were 50-55 seconds. I was preeeeeetty done by the end of it, i wish i had gone out earlier when it was raining because it got super muggy when was out there unfortunately.

Running 19:00 [3]

Warm up and down to and from the hill section.

Friday Feb 15, 2013 #

Running 32:10 [3]

A run with ma, we went to rent a movie :)
It was a pretty good paced run i thought, and my legs coped pretty good too which was nice.

Strength + Conditioning 5:00 [3]

A bit of weights

Street Orienteering 45:29 [3]

Newcastle Streeto.
Twas nice and hilly... I was pretty happy with the run, only i shouldn't have let myself be late, made a silly route choice to get two points and then i got confused near the end and ran straight past my lane way and had to turn back.

Orienteering intervals (Terrain Intervals) 30:00 [3]

I SAW A SNAKE! First time in my orienteering life that i have ever seen a snake, and i absolutely hated the experience. I bolted the other direction straight to dad and felt sick and eurgh it was so black and slippery looking! :((

Thank goodness this was on my way home though, because i'm really not sure how i would've gone if it wasn't. 3x6 minute intervals. It was a good session and each time i had a track run at the end where i really tried to push it.

Warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Just to the map and back. Getting there was fine and it was easy to cross the watercourse, but on the way back there was so much more water, it was starting to flow over the bridge a tad. I dont get where it comes from!

Monday Feb 11, 2013 #

Swimming 30:00 [3]

Was a nice time to go swimming as there wasn't too many people in the lap section of the pool. I did sets of 10 laps again. My arms were sore, and im really worried it could be from throwing a tennis ball at the wall to try to hit a nail...

Sunday Feb 10, 2013 #

Running 55:00 [3]

A run at Mt Sugarloaf. I struggled alot in the heat, but it was good to be out there for that time.

Netball 40:00 [3]

I forgot to log this! We smashed them! :) I don't get why all of a sudden our team rules and can actually win... Its pretty great though. It was ridiculously hot in the stadium though, and i played GD.

Saturday Feb 9, 2013 #

Warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Running to the bush section, and then home again. Thank goodness it was possible today without having to swim through a flowing river!

Orienteering (Terrain Intervals) 20:00 [3]

3 x 5:30 intervals, with four minutes rest. I did the loop down the bottom of my house but cutting off some of the track run at the end so it could end up shorter. It was super different going backwards like i did for one, there was almost nothing to pick off on one of the legs. I was pretty happy with it.

Friday Feb 8, 2013 #

Running 20:20 [3]

Unfortunately i didnt have a whole heap of time between geting home from school and going to work, so this run was cut a bit short. I was so rushed i didnt get to do my usual 'eat everything in the cupboard as soon as i get home' routine, my body was in shock.

Strength + Conditioning 5:00 [3]

A small weights session after work.

Wednesday Feb 6, 2013 #

Street Orienteering 48:10 [3]

Ashtonfield Street-o. I went up two or so streets i had never been up before which was cool. I didnt get too many points, but i went a pretty decent distance i think which was good.

Tuesday Feb 5, 2013 #

Running 20:00 [3]

The plan was to do terrain ints, however the bridge was covered with water to the bush near my house and i had work so i didnt have time to go anywhere else. So, i tried to remember the training meant for friday. I did 100m, 200m, 300m, 300m, 200m, 100m with equal recovery. Measuring the distance on my garmin as i went was a bit of a pain though...

Monday Feb 4, 2013 #

Swimming 20:00 [3]

I went to the pool instead of the cycle class, i liked getting back to swimming! My arms aren't all that strong... but it was really good. I did 3 sets of 10 laps, so nothing too fast or anything but hopefully my legs will feel relatively fresh tomorrow.

Sunday Feb 3, 2013 #

Street Orienteering 48:36 [3]

Streeto at Berkley Vale.
I went the bad way to get a good point score, but i decided that it wouldn't matter because i wanted to be out there for the whole time at least. It was a good run, although i slipped over in a drain and came back absolutely saturated so that was pretty gross...

Saturday Feb 2, 2013 #

Running 30:52 [3]

A jog from where mum's streeto starts, around, and then home. I just winged it a little, i really didnt know quite where i was at some points. Legs felt pretty good :)

Running hills (Hill Ints in the storm!) 20:00 [3]

About a 5 minute jog there, i went the quickest way thinking i could get it all done before the storm hit... I was wrong. It was actually pretty cool though, i haven't run in rain that heavy in ages!
I did 4 x 1 minute hills, i wouldve been able to make them longer because the hill is longer but i thought it was probably best not to be out in the weather too much longer.
And then about a 5 minute jog home too.
