walk-around campus and grounds with DK, discussing mapping of campus - hot & muggy.
probably end up with 2 maps - immediate surrounds of school buildings at 1:1500, and full extent of campus at 1:4000 - smaller scale map should be suitable for sprint/park type event at least at club level, and may be able to convince school that a scatter of relocatable "point " features (eg outdoor sculptures) may be useful additions to the curriculum and the map

Note: in future make sure to avoid school start or finish times - what we thought was a major traffic accident as we approached the school along Wine Country Drive (from N) was just the scrum of parents' cars and a few buses trying to turn right from road out of Cessnock - and apparently it has eased since the start of the school year when the queue of turning cars was over a km!

club minor event at "The Range"
Moderate Short (nom 2.5km) - used my $5 carbon fiber trekking poles, certainly light enough at took all the weight I put on them

noticed that my map-reading speed has slowed down considerably, to match my terrain speed - will have to change that, as I can't afford to waste any time during an event; terrain speed should improve with a bit of practice at negotiating clumpy grass and light fallen timber - ground today was hard after recent dry

first time at Callaghan, while tinytoes was volunteering

went around with the tail-runner, or rather Colin went around with me - can't count it higher than intensity 3 because we talked all of the way!

enjoyed the course, although I had my doubts in the first 100m on the downhill section of recently-graded gravel track; noted a few things for the Uni map update

weather warm but OK in the shade, not too humid.
