newy parkrun. another PB! the timing seems to be 4 secs off this week seeing as the official time was 16:35, but 16:39 on the watch. probably should have taken it easy for tomorrow but wanted to prove that last week wasn't a fluke. surged off the start line as always and was surprised by the gap that opened straight away, normally a few people stick on the back. had Andrew a little behind me but had opened up a gap by halfway. 2 secs quicker through halfway this week, in 8:09. fair gap back to 3rd place as well so was feeling pretty comfortable. so was a little crushed with about 500m to go to hear footsteps suddenly closing in and have the bloke who was in 3rd coming storming past. he put a couple of seconds gap on me and I thought oh well. but down the last 200m I was gaining slightly. so I put in a big effort hoping he couldn't match. don't think he heard me coming until I came alongside which then lead to an all out sprint over the last 50m. just got 1st by a few centimetres!

legs actually feeling ok now so hopefully tomorrow goes well although I suspect I'll be feeling todays run in the last 5k tomorrow.

street o warm up at the brickworks. watch was flat so took my iphone instead which was frustrating to hold in my hands whilst marking answers. decided to tackle the hill and had a lonely first half until i came down the other side. started looking at the actual time on my phone instead of the stopwatch, which was 2 mins out so was 2 mins late without realising. need a new headband as the sweat dripping into my eyes wasn't fun. felt like i ran ok up the hills

NSW sprint champs on new map at Pyrmont. was actually pretty good and a lot of fun. My run wasn't the best. missed #1 and ran straight past, losing 30 secs straight away. just did not see it at all. few other small time losses through hesitating on route choice, just need to pick a route and take it. didn't pick the best way to #8 and then lost time standing right next to the control but not seeing it tucked away against the stairs. went right to #13 which I thought was pretty good but turns out far left was the quickest surprisingly. the steep stairs to #14 absolutely destroyed me and the next 2 controls were tough going. got caught out by the olive green at #16 and lost more time. the real kicker was losing 15 secs on the last control because again I didn't see it behind a park bench. finished a fair way down, oscar had pretty much caught me 2mins by the end. still enjoyed it, worth the trip down and didn't feel as tired from yesterday as I thought I would.
