Running race 19:32 [5] 5.25 km (3:43 / km) +100m 3:24 / km
shoes: Nike Free Run +3 (blue/red)

Inaugural Blackbutt Parkrun. everyone i spoke to with gps got 250m over so the course is a bit long. started well at the front and knew the first small climb would sort people out. didn't feel too promising on the first small pinch for me. worked my way into 3rd place and tried to push on the sharp hills up Blueberry Burn. downhill was ok but struggled alot coming back up the same way even though the gradient was quite steady. had a bit of a kick near the top. tried to push really hard on the downhill as i could hear someone catching me. he powered past me just inside richley reserve and began to stop at what he thought was the finish line but it was actually a bit further. because he was spent i was able to kick on and take 3rd, but 1st and 2nd were well in front, and 1st was a 13yr old kid!
bit hard to compare to other parkruns due the course length being longer, thought i handled the hills ok though. hopefully they shorten it in the coming weeks

ride around maitland. tried mounting my gopro on my handlebars but there was too much vibration from the bumps, and only looked good when the road was perfectly smooth, which was pretty rare. need to dampen the vibration somehow, otherwise it would look awesome. might see how the helmet mount goes next time

Orienteering race 1:01:22 [4] 8.2 km (7:29 / km)
shoes: Inov8 x talon 212 #3

minor event at mining mystery. distance is course distance, gps is still out of action. did the long score, started out with a rookie error on the way to the second control where i didn't notice the indistinct track swing left and lost some contact. not very straight on a couple of legs and another mistake where i expected to hit a major track and somehow crossed it without noticing which still baffles me. lost some time relocating there. fairly slow through the last controls as the green was a bit prickly and thick and i rolled my ankle, etc
