Southern XC Champs, Stanmer Park Brighton. Underspiked and undertrained. The rain started for the girls race and made the usually dry course a slippy mudbath. I took a dive into some brambles after the first lap and not long after that my lace came undone, causing me to drop from about 30th to 50th while I stopped to retie it. Spent the rest of the race easily passing people on the uphills and working hard not to get passed again on the downhills. Finished 23rd, so inside my top 25 target but not as far inside as last year! Aiming for a better result at the (English) National in four weeks.

The work-life-training balance is going to be a bit out of kilter for a few weeks. Just gotta ride the wave and make the most of training when there's time. Tonight squeezed in treadmill session of 10T (12km/hr @ 6->8->10%) then 20x45/15 @ 18->19->20km/hr. Feeling my way back into the treadmill sessions.
