Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 4.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics GT2000 #2

Didn't get very warm on the way to the Pleasance! Pretty driech day.

Urban Orienteering tempo 43:11 [3] 11.0 km (3:56 / km)
shoes: inov8 f-lite 230 #3 (black)

Edinburgh CityRace. Given injury, lack of fitness and only one weekend of sprinting in the last six months I decided to 'just run' this rather than focussing on anything specific. Slippy slidey conditions didn't help the racing focus either! I ran an OK race but lost time on #7 (couldn't find the way out the control west so faffed then went round the slower east side of Holland House) #8 (misinterpreted the start line message about a closed gate - I thought 'unmarked, locked gate' meant a gate that was not on the map which was locked, presumably near one which was ok - however it was a gate marked as open which was locked in practice. Marking this on the map in the start lane might have been a better idea!) and #23 (muppetry - ran around the wrong tower block). Happy to get the win and get round with knees intact-ish but Murray 2013 would have been 3+ minutes faster I think.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics GT2000 #2

Home with an Instagram detour.

WoL loop. Plodding along.

Faffing in the gym 1:20:00 [3]

Went to watch 'Source Code' but realised after two minutes that I'd already seen it. Fortunately I still had an hour until my rental of 'Into the Mind' expired so I just put that on and enjoyed it for a second time.

Running 1:08:00 [3] 15.0 km (4:32 / km)
shoes: Asics GT2000 #2

Trotter Training tempo reps. 6x1450m on a 6 minute cycle. Started at 5:01, 4:47 by the end. Comfortably fast but think I'd have struggled to hit the <4:30 average I've done this session in before.

Into the Mind. Beautiful ski film by Sherpa Cinema/North Face. Rather than playing a drinking/training game just went with the flow of the film which worked really well. Good session, great film.

Running hills 1:07:00 [3] 11.0 km (6:05 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop #11

Pre-lunch meeting in the Dalkeith Road office so it would have been rude not to go for a run in the park. Warm up with a lap of the marching fields then 16x 60s up / 30s down from the duck pond round the trail outside the road to Dunsapie then up to the top.

Note

Finally got round to setting up a DOMA rather than using picasa. Maps from the weekend are online now - about 750 older maps to follow once I manage to finish coding a bulk-uploader :)

(I'm assuming 750 maps won't crash the SOA website - Paul Frost, are you reading?)

Faffing in the gym 1:30:00 [3]

Aha! Alpha Papa Spinning Fartlek. Sprint whenever someone swears or there was cheesy music playing.
