After the XC season finished with more of a whimper than the bang I was hoping for yesterday, I got on the road to the JK with a trip out to the Pentlands.
Route Dalry-Canal-Water of Leith-Colinton-Bonaly-Capelaw-Allermuir-Swanston-Fairmilehead-Polwarth-Dalry.

As I'm an orienteer again, as of today, I'm going to try and keep this training diary going. Thanks for reading!

Scottish National XC Champs. 20th place.

Took it out too hard and paid for it in the second lap, held on through the third lap to salvage a top 20. Six weeks ago I was in form to get the top 10 result I've been aiming for, but illness and injury have taken their toll since then.

Still it's been a great season with two league wins and bronze in the East of Scotland champs. Aiming for a good run at the National was merely a means to an end this year, and I know I'm fitter than I've ever been, I just need a few more weeks to get back to top speed. Six weeks, say, should do it...
