light rain. Surprised I could manage sub-8's with all the cranky parts (toe, hips, knees).

Mendon Mauler '8' miler. What on earth was I thinking? I have not run more than 6 miles in a year, and certainly nothing near 8 (let alone 8.8)

2nd overall, 1st in age group.
looks like in the final results, I was second overall...not 4th as previously reported (that said, at least 3 of the 12 milers were faster through the lap 2 end check point).
http://files.yellowjacketracing.com/races/mendon-m...

It took on quite a few hills, but not all of the worst on the green trail.

Ran alone after 4 miles (had caught up to one of the 4 mile race leaders at near the 3.5 mark). Was catching up to or lapping some others 1/2 through second lap - don't know if it was the 4 or 12 milers

Scariest part was downhill through field stones that rolled under my feet - trees very far apart making "catch me" difficult. Hamstring tightened up quite a bit during the worst of these with 1+ mile to go.

Duh - no socks with newish shoes. luckily only one toe rubbed enough to bleed.

Increased my streak of 1 Age group win per year to 6 years. No races in 2013 due to hamstring issues that took forever to fix... and still flare up occasionally.
