Running 2:05:00 [1] 21.84 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Precision

Sweet long-ish run around a pretty solid new loop. I wonder how long it would take me to run that at my new higher speed pace. Its not super ideal because the first thing I did was run through the university and that's less fun. Still, lots and lots of trail as well, and a couple of good climbs. Great day to be out, legs pretty tried afterwards. It rarely does 2+ hour effors.

Cycling 1:10:00 [1] 28.3 km (2:28 / km)

Legs were pretty tired, especially calves, so I tried to spin them out with a road bike around south edmonton. A lot of people hate trying to do rides around urban areas, but I actually don't mind them. Mainly because if I get bored, there are so many ways to abort and head straight home.

Can't do that if you ride 50k immediately out of the city. Only one way to get back then. That, of course, is to use your phone and get someone to pick you up.

Running 1:00:00 [1] 10.6 km (5:40 / km)
shoes: Saucony Mirage

Basically, because of the return of weirdo McGee (see an earlier post), I'm afraid to go to FT training until I know someone else will be there to distract him. Turned out he wasn't there anyway, but I decided to show up a half hour late and fly solo. That was good too.

Running 50:00 [1] 9.55 km (5:14 / km)
shoes: Asics Tarther

Oof, this was a tough one to get going for, after a long long day at the shop, where it was fairly busy and I sold a lot Pearl Izumi's (they've turned it around and no longer suck, though seem to be pissing people off for other reasons - Pearl Izumi . You should read some of the comments.

Here's a good one:
"APOLOGY NOT ACCEPTED------STOP^SHOWING STUPIDITY IN ADVERTISING---ADVERTISE YOUR SHOES AND NOTHING ELSE--WE THE CONSUMERS WANT THE TRUTH--NOT ALL FIREWORKS, FANCY BULLCRAP AND GIMMICKS---COMPANIES THAT CANT SELL ME THERE PRODUCT ONLY--DONT DESERVE ME AS A COSTUMER----NO MONEY FOR YOU---"

Awesome.

Running 1:20:00 [1] 16.39 km (4:53 / km)
shoes: Pearl Izumi Streak (circa 2009

Did the new ol' 10 miler loop. Did some adjustments out of curiosity, and its still around 10 miles. I think it could be a good 20 k'er if I added on Laurier park as well. My new speed still feels very nice. Its comfortably tougher, I feel like its more of a training effect than just junk. My legs feel generally good afterwards too, though my left foot is starting to bother me again, and my right achilles is a little tender too. Wah wah wah suck it up princess.

I also tried doing the podcast thing today, out of... let's say... peer pressure. Downloaded one of the Freakonomics ones. I learned that financial pundits who happen predict one of the larger events (catastrophic or not) tended to be less accurate on average the rest of the time. So, just because they might have predicted the recent financial crisis, doesn't mean they are more worthwhile listening to any other time.

I could get on the pod cast bandwagon. Sometimes.

Note
(rest day)

So I just booked a flight to somewhere for $800. By comparison, it cost $600 to fly to Hamilton. Baffling.

Running 1:15:00 [2] 14.07 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Precision

Got dropped off a distance away from orienteering and used it as warm-up. Wednesday night at Hermitage park, which is a pretty boring park, but this course was a bit better than the spring as a bit of effort was put into making some route choice-y legs, which is really all you can do around here. Since I forgot my trail shoes, I got the fun of doing the steep bits in my road shoes, which lead to a bit of a slide straight done rose bushes.

And... now I get the pleasure of pulling thorns out of my hands.

Cycling 2:45:00 [1] 60.03 km (2:45 / km)

Since Maryann has the week off, we went out for a nice road bike south of town. It was cool because it was super foggy (very race for around these parts). Made for some nervy moments in case it was going to also be very slippery, but it really wasn't. Sun came out on the way back, so it was quite nice. The hamstrings and glutes to not agree with that length of ride though!

Running 1:15:00 [1] 15.27 km (4:55 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Precision

Initially I guesstimated this loop would also be around 10 miles, but it turns out its a bit short. Still, its a good loop, lots of trail, no dogs, and no bikes. Some twinges in both my plantar fasciitis in my left foot, and a strangely tender achilles in my right foot. I'm not sure why that start happening, but its generally manageable, its the first 5 minutes that are kind of annoying. After that its generally fine. Probably more compression is in order.

Compression, the solution to all life's problems.
