Orienteering 1:15:00 [4] 10.17 km (7:22 / km)
shoes: inov-8 Oroc 280

Spring Opener in Rumsey. Fitness, bad, navigation, pretty alright. Stayed relatively focused, made a point of planning. If I wasn't actively navigating, planning. Tended to forget my compass a bit too often though.

Note
(rest day)

In anticipation of a race tomorrow and a week long effort of almost no foot related activity, I decided to avoid doing any weight supported work today. Oh yeah, except for working for 8 hours on my feet.

Cycling 1:10:00 [1] 20.36 km (3:26 / km)

Another cycle around almost the same loop, except not going to the shop. That's three straight days of not foot related activity. Strange, my Garmin takes a lap every 8.05km. Why?

Cycling 1:15:00 [1] 21.6 km (3:28 / km)

Mountain biked the long way for an evening at the shop, including my very favorite long gradual uphill. Funny, I never run that hill, but I like to bike it. It would be a great interval hill if it'd just loop back to the start and have some stairs or something. As it is, it'd take a little too long to get back down.

Running intervals 1:25:00 [4] 16.65 km (5:06 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Convinced the fairly small Fast Trax group to do the intervals out to Rundle, so that I could join in the first half, and then continue on to orienteering. They were ladder intervals, so mine went 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 35. So... I kind of climbed the ladder, and then jumped off it into the swimming pool.

Note
(rest day)

So I had asked my Chrio the day before if I should take a day off after ART because there was presumably an inflammation response, and he said "uhh... yeah sure".

See, that's what I'm talking about.

Cycling 1:25:00 [1] 24.05 km (3:32 / km)

My third visit to the chiro for more ART. I've decided what my problem is with Chiropractors. Its that they don't anything. Perhaps I should elaborate.

Both the chiros I have visited over the past year have been fairly good at quickly knowing whatto do with that ailment I give them. I saw I have PF, and they do things to me. They can *kind of* explain why I'm having the trouble, insofar as they can point at a picture on the wall of where it is. My current chiro has done this every time so far. They can also give the well rehearsed speech about why ART or Graston or whatever is effective.

But, they CAN'T explain the mechanism of the injury, the potential causes of the injury, the different ways an injury may manifest itself, or any other rehab strategies outside of me paying them $60 a session for 20 minutes of a glorified butter knife.

For example, when I told him that with this left foot, what concerned me was that rather than having weight bearing pain, the pain comes up simply by dorsiflexing my foot in the morning. But he really could not make any explanation or theory as to why it might be different. He tried, but just regurgitated the same thing as before. Why would I have paid an extra 50% for the first session for "assessment" if they are seemingly incapable of doing any assessment? He didn't do any tests, comparing the injured leg to the other one, anything.

Oops, that was a bit off track.

Another example, I asked him if he knew anything about kinesio tape, and he (actually the other one did too) said that "yeah, I know some". So then I told him that I had some and my sister who was a physio showed me one possibility, and the internet has several theories, and I just wanted to hear his opinion. They both responded with "well, it sounds like you've got it just about covered and I can't add anything new". I suppose I should have not mentioned those things and seen what his answer was, but I would think, that any medical professional would take an opportunity like this to express their skills as part of the value they can to my appointment. They both said they knew something about kinesio taping, but once they found out I had some semblance of education about it, they were unwilling to go any further. That really suggests to me they are exaggerating their expertise in the hopes that the vast majority of people won't know any better.

In which case, I suppose that makes them fairly good businessmen. But anyone who calls themselves a "doctor" should be far more multi-modal capable than chiropractors are.

Oh yeah, then I went cycling.

Cycling 35:00 [3] 5.73 km (6:06 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Precision

I theorized that maybe if I did a really, really light run before my chiro appointment, it would make things more efficient. But then I forgot to ask if that was a good idea or not. Ooops!
