Nordic (classic) 1:15:00 [1] 13.4 km (5:36 / km)

Went for a staff ski at SWC. It was less of a ski, though, and more of a plod. If it were possible to make the intensity "-1", I would. The problem is that many of the staff, who are former athletes, no longer train at the level they might've at one point, and would rather just strut around at a ludicrously slow pace looking cool and stopping at every freaking intersection to talk about something. I didn't know it was possible to cover so little ground in such a long time.

Then of course we had to hurry back to get cappucinos before working at the shop. Or rather, the ones that did have to work at the shop had to hurry. The rest showed up half an hour late because they didn't have anywhere to be. Jerkwads.

(in retrospect, I knew this was going to happen)

Cycling 45:00 [1]

In light of the morning's non-training, I rode the trainer when I got home.

It was lightly snowing, so I REALLY wanted to go for a run, but the foot is definitely not allowing it. I've started to directly threaten it of getting cut off if it doesn't start behaving.

We'll see if that sticks.

Also, new blog post! A very difficult topic to stay vaguely succinct and on topic. I could go on for days.

Nordic (classic) tempo 1:15:00 [3] 20.6 km (3:38 / km)

Went out and did the 'best aerobic' workout on skis. The kick wasn't great, probably chose a bit too cold with the Vauhti blue. Vauhti carrot would have been more appropriate.

Nevertheless, its tough to maintain a consistent heart rate that one might achieve while running. Too many climbs and descents while skiing. I bet it would be more consistent while skating, but we finally got some snow so I want to get in a whole bunch of classic! Lovely morning, but only had time for about a 3 minute cool-down since I was already late for work!

Running 55:00 [1] 9.89 km (5:34 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Taped up my foot and gave running another go. It was not great. Modestly painful for the first few minutes, then it wears off for a while until then end. Pain was exacerbated by seeing many off-leash dogs in non off-leash areas.

I may have mentioned this irritation before. I now make a point of sometimes wearing outfits that don't say Fast Trax on them, so I can happily inform people of their transgressions. On Fast Trax uniform days, I keep my mouth shut and absorb the rage.

Cycling 1:00:00 [1]

Went out to meet a buddy for a run, but..... he didn't show up. After waiting half an hour and being thoroughly frozen, didn't really want to go for a run so headed up and jumped on the trainer to pick up where I left off watching season 4 of Fringe. Its goooood stuff. After four seasons, its overall way, way, better than Lost.

Running 40:00 [1]
shoes: inov-8 Baregrip 200

Ventured forth for a brief run, sans taping. The foot felt pretty solid most of the time, some light twinges, but not nearly as bad as during the sprint camp. Definitely a promising sign.

Cycling 45:00 [1]

But, it wasn't quite enough, so when I got home I hopped on the trainer for another bunch of minutes on the bike. Finished off the hurt locker. Pretty dramatic, but... I won't make any editorial comments on the ending, just in case you haven't seen it.

Then, about an hour later, one my back teeth broke off. So that sucked.

Cycling 45:00 [1]

Hopped on the trainer before working at the shop today. Which meant I actually got up at a reasonable hour, rather than sleeping in way too long like a lazy person. It felt good.
