Orienteering race 1:30:00 [4]
shoes: inov-8 Oroc 280
Sage Stomp long. First time a 1:15000 map in quite a while, so number 1 was very nerve wracking. Got into the swing of things by number 6, and made up all my time on 7, the really long one. Slowed down on 9-10 due to a herd of cattle that congregated in my clearing I wanted to go through, and then ran away from me by going down the trail I wanted and cornering themselves with the fence. Gee, thanks.
Still, went pretty well, would have liked to have made more time on the running legs, which was essentially all of them. I still don't think my bearings were very good, but saved by being able to see everything. Received an odd e-mail a couple of days later from someone who shall remain nameless who reminded me that I shouldn't get too excited because the terrain was pretty easy and visibility was high. Uh, yeah, I noticed. And thanks for the nice words.
