Nordic (skating) race 1:55:00 [4]

Beat the Blues Boogie out at Strathcona Wilderness Centre. Last race of the season, skate 30k.It was weird, I was there on Thursday night, and conditions were super firm, but when we got there in the morning, they'd groomed the crap out of it, and it turned really quite soft. So, while the first lap was super nice and fast, it just got worse from there. Took position at the front of the pack for the first lap, then a couple guys passed me on the backside of the second lap. At the feed station the second time around, guy in second tried to get a water bottle, clipped his tipped, and faceplanted into the snow, and then guy in first tried to grab a glass off the table, and smashed right into the back of a rec skier. Hilarious! I skied slow to let them recover and catch back up, then we started again. Managed to gap them over the third lap and had to put my foot on the gas for laps 4-5 to make enough time to do last 2.5k comfortably enough to cruise to victory in 1:24:30

Cycling 35:00 [1]

Seeing as how its March 25 and "Spring", I shouldn't be deciding to ride my trainer because its bloody freezing out. Yet, here I am.

Nordic (classic) 1:25:00 [1]

Spontaneously went out to Strathcona Wilderness Centre for a ski after working at the shop. Conditions are amazing. I think I've said this before, but SWC put Goldbar grooming to SHAME. Total SHAME. Psyched for the 30k on Sunday out there. Hopefully it warms up.

Pretty standard light jog around to Hawrelak and back. Saw people without studded shoes tip toeing around sheets of ice (aka the whole world). I blasted straight through.

Weights 1:35:00 [1]

Hit the gym for some more strength. Mostly 1-leg stuff. I'm finding myself much preferring single leg to double leg weight workouts. I can feel the strength difference between my legs, but I can also feel that the gap is getting a bit lower than it once was (left leg dominates).

Did some good ol' weights at the gym. Some warm-up, 15mins of uphill on the treadmill, and then a bunch of etc.

Went for a slightly longer jog. Swung past the university to scope out the updates necessary for the map, what the new BioSci building. I figured there would be a cool new terrace with flowerbeds or stairs or something that would make a fun little addition to the map. Nope. Round building. Absolutely nothing. U of A sucks.

Didn't train. After a solid week of longer skis, I felt today like I was having a cold relapse. So, ultra cold prevention measures employed, stat!
