Running race 1:30:00 [4]
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Kamikaze Adventure Run! About 9 miles of some sweet trail running, along with a less sweet blog/river crossing. First mud up to my hips, then essentially swimming across a creek. Still, I was the first person to think of pulling myself across with the rope instead of wading, and then everyone did it. Trend setter! Finished in 2nd place in 1:07. Last few k's were a bit of a jog because the leader was a minute and a half ahead and third places was five minutes back. Smashed my shin on a metal post on the way down the "kamikaze slide", which bled a fair amount (then washed off in the creek crossings) and stung a LOT. Turns out there was a fair amount of skin missing. That's going to leave a scar!

Trained it back to London and wandered some more, then headed home to Cov. Sweet weekend!

Lots of photos at http://mhonfy.com/Galleries/02_SportEvents/2010.05... , some are even of me!

Running 30:00 [1]
shoes: Vibram Five Fingers

Light run in barefoot shoes before getting on the train to London. Wandered around London for 6 hours with my heavy backpack. But, also saw the Magna Carta and Cleopatra!

Running intervals 1:25:00 [4]
shoes: Saucony FastTwitch

Pre-exam morning intervals. 8 x 4 minutes. I didn't feel like I slowed down for the last 2-3, but they didn't feel amazing. I'll have to check the GPS data and see if I actually did. Envisioned hammering minutes 7-12 of WOC qualification sprint, make or break time.

Note
(rest day)

No training today, just studying and study meetings. What exactly is HRM and what does he want to hear on the exam? We all agreed: We have no freaking clue.

Orienteering 45:00 [3]
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 320

Wednesday night orienteering at Bedworth. The park is sketchy, so they use pin punches instead. A group of "Chavs", were wandering around, following people into controls and then breaking or stealing the controls or punches. Apparently they always do this here, so they don't use electronic timing. Quite frankly, I do'nt know why they bother with electronic timing at Wednesday night meets to begin with. Nonetheless, its always good to run with a map, controls or no, and I totally botched on control confusing a long ridge for a long depression below. Stupid.

I'm not convinced my contacts are effective for orienteering any longer, but I don't think I really have the money to figure it out all over again.
