Running 55:00 [1]

A light run in the light rain to test out my new Oroc 280s. They're pretty nice, when I have a bit more time maybe I'll write a little reivewski.

Weights 1:20:00 [1]
shoes: Saucony FastTwitch

Headed to the gym for some endurance strength. Man, that gym ticks me off sometimes. Its so crowded, and people don't ask if you're done with a machine. There I am doing leg press, and after my third set, I get up. And I realize I'm done with the machine, but, someone just swoops in a takes it! I've barely even gotten off it. And it happened several times! Fortunately, I mostly do leg exercises, so all the meatheads that do nothing but biceps, so its not usually a problem. Stupid meatheads.

Orienteering 1:15:00 [3]
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Orienteering event at Arrow Valley, with a light jog for a warm-up/cooldown to and from the train station.

Saving the fact that the terrain and map and course kinda sucked, I made some stupid errors and missed some obvious route choices. Not exactly a confidence builder . I was testing some new contacts so I suppose I could blame that, but... I doubt it. I'm actually finding myself getting more confused with trails around, the more trails, the less sure of which one to take. Funny, I'm almost at the point where I wish there were less trails instead of more!

Running 50:00 [1]
shoes: Karhu Fast Ride

An easy run around, thinking about whether I should run the parkrun tomorrow or not. My mind says yes yes, but my calves say no no.

Running intervals 1:15:00 [4] 12.19 mi (6:09 / mi)
shoes: Karhu Fast Ride

30 x 15 seconds with 60 seconds rest. Felt kind of slow, but tried to hammer them out anyway. Not quite as difficult as 30-30s, though.

Orienteering 1:35:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony FastTwitch

Wednesday night at Warwick University. First of all, Warwick University's campus is SO nice. So much better than Coventry University's. For realsies, it kind of breaks my heart.

Wasn't feeling super fast in the orienteering, and made some minor route choice mistakes, nor was particularly organized in or out of controls, nor did I consult my control description sheet very well. There was a brief two week lull in the orienteering for a while, and I feel like my orienteering skillz (yes, skillz), has gone out the window, and is now just back to mere skills (far less exciting, and highly questionable). Oh well, soon will be a lot of ludicrously difficult orienteering, so... that'll go well. Or badly. Either way, I'll probably be better after!

Running 1:50:00 [3] 20.0 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Saucony FastTwitch

Ran a 45 minute crisp run within some warm-up and cool down. Only got attacked by one dog, and the usual amount of stinging nettle. Felt alright, ran comfortably at 4:35 pace, almost entirely on trails, which was nice. Looked on the map and despite a brief 10 minute paved commute, found another nice wood with some good trails, though I just ran the one right down the middle.

Also, my Fast Twitches are on their death bed. Time to graduate the Karhus to outdoor and relegate Fast Twitches to the weight room!

Running intervals 1:45:00 [4] 15.22 mi (6:54 / mi)
shoes: Saucony FastTwitch

Did 18 x 1 minute intervals w/ 1 minute rest. Fully ran out of gas around 13 or 14, those last ones were neither fast nor fun. Also, my watch went totally haywire around the same time. The screen started doing these self tests and making some strange noises until I managed to resuscitate it. Strangely enough, although I couldn't stop or start the timer, nor see any information on the screen, the interval timer kept notifying me when to go and stop. Mad props for commitment!

Running 45:00 [1] 7.92 km (5:41 / km)
shoes: Saucony FastTwitch

A casual dawdle on the usual route.

Weights 1:20:00 [1]

Back to the gym for some 15 rep endurance strength. Added weight to calf raises, which pretty much guarantees calf soreness! Time to whip out the compression socks!

Headed back to the bar to watch Ghana-Uruguay, most dramatic game I think I've ever seen.

Running 1:20:00 [3]

Did 8 x 2 minute intervals. Felt.... heavy. Like, physically fat. And I cant blame the shoes because Nike Lunaracers are pretty sweet.
