Orienteering race 37:54 [3] 2.3 km (16:29 / km)

Pawtuckaway Tan Course (brown difficulty, white length) chooses because I knew I'd be running 2 legs of the afternoon relay later. Good choice, it turns out. Managed to make some silly mistakes anyway.
2 PM

Orienteering race 24:03 [4]

Sprint Relay leg #4. I managed to do even better on the second leg (for me). The consensus was that it was easier. I was really pooped by the end.
3 PM

Orienteering race 29:09 [4]

Sprint Relay w/ Carl. It was fun to be on a team with him as a couple. So romantic. :) Being on a team is a good lesson in how one's determination to do well (and not let the team down) should or could be used in every race to do one's best. I tried really hard to be accurate and managed to pull it off pretty well. I'm just slow.

Walking 25:00 [1]

Walked flat part of Gov Chitt w/ KH and JG. JG is having trouble now with the least bit of exertion. It makes me sad and worried about her, but glad we can still share our outings in a beautiful place getting exercise and fresh air. Good for the soul.

Trail running race 37:54 [4]

Catamount Trail Running Series, Blue Course. A storm came through at 4:00 and cooled things down to 68 degrees, but the humidity was probably 90%. I felt pretty good and was running harder than usual. Perhaps I've finally readjusted to the high humidity. After two previous days of hard runs, I was surprised to have the strength I did. Got tired about 3/4 of the way through, but managed to hang in there. Happy about finishing strong.

Looking back, I ran this course in over 50 min back in June ( when I was just getting back to running again after my winter injury), and in early July, did it in 42 min+, so my time of around 38 min shows some real improvement. Yeah!

Walking 35:00 [2]

The usual, with Carl. Except that Carl got bitten by a dog today. A Welsh Corgi. Barely broke the skin on his ankle, but it tore his sock which really made him angry. Carl was pretty angry that the owner, who we know and who had the dog on a leash, just told the dog "bad dog" in a kind and gentle way. That upset Carl who believes, after all of his years of working with animals, that you need to scream at the dog and hit it hard to make an impression that such behavior will not be tolerated. It was very tense for me. The dog has had shots, so Carl will be OK.

Trail running 34:57 [3]

For some reason, I felt like running today when Carl asked me to join him at Catamount. Maybe it was that I felt so athletic during yesterday's run and I wanted more of that. It was warm, 82 degrees, and quite humid (which I'm really, really weary of), but it was cloudy at the start so it was tolerable. We did the yellow-on-white course. It was tough and I was glad I managed to endure it. Felt good this evening having run. Tomorrow is the race series; I hope I have some legs left.

Walking 35:00 [2]

Te usual, with Carl. Warm and humid. Enough already!
