Orienteering race 1:34:30 [4]

WCOC Day 2 only. Felt better than expected after rising at 4:20 am and driving 4.5 hrs down to event. Not a factor in my performance. Had a decent race going until #10, then blew it. That's what I get for patting myself on the back for my great execution on #9. Still had fun. Fantastic woods, not too much climb. Loved the mature mountain laurel. What was that cool large-leaved plant in the swamps? Not false hellebore nor skunk cabbage. Great map, terrific event, very nice weather. Thanks to Lyn and WCOC for all their efforts.

Running 46:32 [3]

Gov. Chitt Rd. w/ Lucy. Drizzling for first 10 min, then cleared. Temp in 60s. Air smelled wonderfully fresh--like that in Sweden.

Trail running 40:00 [3]

Ran w/ AJC at Mud Pond. Saw some fresh moose tracks but forgot to go on down to the bog afterward to see if it ended up there. Took Lucy. Felt good, especially toward the end when I had the energy to stretch it out on the trail. Fun to have Andrew fly by me. Temp 70. Sunny and beautiful day. Felt great to get out. I really should do this every day. Got my planting plan done!

Walking 1:30:00 [1]

Walked Cobb Welch trails with MH and dogs. Not so brisk a pace due to muddy trails and all the spring wildflowers to stop and enjoy. Sometimes you have to stop and smell the flowers. . . Learned 3 new plants: Red Elder in bloom, wood anemone, and Fly Honeysuckle shrub. Lots of white and red trillium, wild ginger, some black cohosh and a few spring beauties on the wane. Nice walk.

Walk Butternut w/ MH,KM, and PS plus dogs. Windy morning. Muggy and buggy when in the trees.
