Orienteering 1:21:00 [3] **** 6.25 km (12:58 / km) +50m 12:28 / km
spiked:20/22c shoes: X Talon 2020

Training Bottle Lake. Lots of compass bearings but also quite good for picking up small features close to the straight line for confirmation, something I'm maybe not always good at looking for. Pretty damn accurate most of the way, even in the thick green stripey stuff. Wish I could ride my compass like that on race days! Expected to do about half-2/3 of the course but in the end only skipped 17-20 of 26.

Walking 2:00:00 [1]

Held off on the morning run because a friend wanted to go walking. Should have known that was going to get later and later so I would have definitely had time to fit something in beforehand. So logging this partly in protest, although I guess the walk was hilly enough that I'd at least think about claiming it here. No idea how long we were out for though... Gebbies & McQueen's Passes and thereabouts. Will go back - it looked like we were about to get into some interesting country when we decided to turn around.

Run 40:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2020

Lazy figure 8 of North Hagley including gardens. About all I was capable of, but as the intent was to get a bit of stretch into the legs after not really warming up or down last night, all that was needed. And as that would be the first 5 days of action in a row for quite some time, I'm allowed to feel a bit tired on it.

Orienteering 18:45 [4] *** 3.0 km (6:15 / km)
spiked:23/26c shoes: Asics Trabuco 2020

Avonside sprint. The school sections were pretty technical, the red zone suffered from a touch of 'check direction - look up - see the control - run to it' but still some good legs in there. Good flow with a plan in place for most legs before I'd completed the former one, if anything did better with that in the school sections. Only small wobbles that will have barely lost time, 3-4 I momentarily lost track of whether I was making the key turn before or after a building, the moment's hesitation was probably more expensive than the difference it would have made! And slightly lost contact immediately before and after the map flip. Legs felt heavy at the start but got up to a decent pace - knowing that casser was reeling me in in the last few legs helped!

Social climbing 1:00:00 [3]

Indoor session with Maggie. 50% success rate, but as we both hadn't been for a while, not attempting anything particularly ambitious. Found some fun cramp inducing spots to get caught up in which didn't always mix well with 2 days of running in the legs.
