Orienteering (score event) 59:20 [4] *** 6.1 km (9:44 / km) +90m 9:04 / km
spiked:16/19c shoes: XTalon 2017

1 hour score event, Pegasus (aka Bottle Lake, aka Burwood forest). Mostly easy controls, a few technical challenges especially in the coastal strip. Collected everything except the 4 northernmost controls. Lost a few minutes to nav issues, mostly at the start when the brain took a while to catch up with what we were out there to do. And one control probably didn't include at the most efficient time. But probably worked out better losing that time - got to the northern end of my loop just a bit late to think about carrying on for any of the northern 4, and even if that hadn't put me over-time at the end, would have lost the opportunity to zig zag through the SE corner of the map which was much more worthwhile points wise. Pushed hard right to the end, as tempting as it was to drop the last few controls for a no-pressure finish. Nothing like a time limit to help you discover what you're really capable of!

Run warm up/down 5:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2018

Orienteering 32:51 [4] **** 3.2 km (10:16 / km) +15m 10:02 / km
spiked:17/23c shoes: Asics Trabuco 2018

Sprint, South Brighton. About 2/3 more terrainy (and rough terrain at that) than what I was expecting so had to be fairly cautious with only very light ankle strapping. A bit of trouble in the circle a few times in the scrub but I was probably a bit guilty of bash-and-hope navigation at times so maybe had less trouble than I deserved... :-/ Briefly caught by the one trap leg in the school section, though noticed the uncrossable fence blocking my way soon enough to only add a little extra distance. 250m is a loooong finish chute!

Note

would be nice if colds could synchronise with injuries.... not seriously sick but skipping tonight's night-o in the hope it increases the chance I'll be all right for the weekend
