Orienteering 52:30 [3] *** 4.9 km (10:43 / km) +40m 10:18 / km
spiked:15/18c shoes: Last Jalas ever

A beautiful day at Scott's Ferry on the ...Rangitikei Riviera? ...the Costa del Bulls? Quite a cool course nicely using a new (to me) small block of forest. Apparent right from the start I didn't really have my fast legs with me so really just cruised around which might have helped keep things relatively clean. 3 lapses - #4 hit the green belt a bit south of the control, but given I crossed without noticing a track mid-leg that I was going to use a bend of to check my direction, did pretty well to only end up one re-entrant off; #8, drifted far enough off bearing I ended up closer to 9, too distracted by other similar-paced runners around me at that point I think; #14 sort of lost map contact soon after crossing the main track, so even though I never really went astray, for too long had little idea of how far along the leg I was - plenty of contour detail along the leg but not really any clear unique feature to say you are here. Probably a few other legs that I lost a bit of time just not being confident, even though I was actually spot-on - that kind of run.

Note

StatNav April update:
5735 points (no change... no ranking events attended, so no surprise!)
160th overall (up 32)
11th M45 (no change)
I guess most of the overall movement is people who haven't done much since Oceania/Masters last year dropping off the list. Unfortunately this includes Bozzy, so either he needs to start doing some more races (QB's coming up!) or I need to find another target to chase down ;-)

Run 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 2017

Roads and riverbank, Heretaunga Park loop. Sub par effort but not as much as I expected, especially given there were so many little walking breaks on the return leg between the driving range (@42 mins) and home that I was considering stopping the watch and calling the run over. So given that the end result was just a few minutes slower than it should have been, can only assume that I was working too hard (which it certainly felt like) and going too fast (which it certainly didn't) for the distance.

Walking 1:20:00 [1]

Stretching the legs and trying to help the good news of the last few days sink in. Horoeka track up and down, didn't actually note the time, but I think it's usually about 1:20 walking.
