Run warm up/down 15:00 [2]
shoes: XTalon 2017

Jog to and from start/finish. Time a guess, definitely more than 5 minutes each way but probably less than 10.

Battle Hill Forest-only course - having never been in the forest here and not wanting to risk the ankle on a longer course, slumming it on the shortest red seemed the best option. Treated as training so in a few places might have taken easier routes in a race situation. Uphill section a bit meh, though running in parallel with Olivernicus I was pleased to see that my steep slow shortcuts were comparing well against the slightly less steep zig zags up the tracks. But the downhill section was awesome - descending through a series of spurs that all seemed slightly offset from how you'd expect. So had to keep the wits up. Drifted a bit wide 4-5 while figuring that out, otherwise close to perfect.

Run 47:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:13 / km)
shoes: Asics 2017

Riverbanks, Silverstream-Moonshine Bridge loop from the Silverstream Bridge carpark. Up the 'town' side, down the 'river road' side, 9ish kilometres I believe. Not as long/far as I expected (so doing it from home would be only a notch or 2 up from the longest flat runs I've been doing recently), but as my personal wall seems to be not much over 40 minutes this week, not complaining about missing my hour-ish target and no real interest in looking for extra distance at the end! Ankle noticeably soft - it was pretty much gravel all the way.

Note

Would normally be a light recovery run today, but spent most of the day walking around town playing tour guide which hopefully had the same benefit

Run race 23:47 [4] 5.0 km (4:45 / km)
shoes: Asics 2017

Wellington waterfront. Knew in advance this was never going to be a top effort so just tried to sit at 'maximum comfortable pace' the whole way round, eventually turning into a bit of a battle what with the wind and probably spending the most time yet alone/between packs. Still, didn't hurt nearly as much as the various times that I've only found out part way through were not going to be a top effort... Not enough warm-up or down to log, really, a bit tight for time!

Run 52:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 2017

A fairly gentle roads and riverbanks (home to N end of Fraser Park and most of the way back) to see what the ankle thought. Seems fairly happy as long as the shoe is kept tight, though definitely prefers paving >gravel >grass, so guess there won't be any terrain running between now and nationals. Legs suddenly tired from about 40 minutes, ended up stopping the watch and walking the last few minutes home. Will aim for the 5k tomorrow, but will be a slow one I think!
