Training Log Archive: slow-twitch

Last day of the survey. One short stretch of line to survey - short, but went into some interesting country. Then a bit of follow up trying to find a couple of females that hadn't turned up this time - only found one of their mates, already picked up earlier. Ankle fine, but someone had let slip to the legs-in-general that today was the last day in the field - struggling by the end!

Again, into the far end of the block, but the bit that's easily accessed from the farm so less of a mission getting in and out. Survey lines were hard work though, think they'd been marked and cut by someone going in the opposite direction so I was going against the grain all day. Another layer of strapping tape did the trick. No robins for me today, but the team picked up another juvenile and the last unaccounted for resident male.

Out into the far corner of the block. Ankle strapped - again a few moments but otherwise ok. No robins today.

Back to robin-surveying weather. Clearing up some of the easier stuff we'd been saving for volunteers. Ankle in a compression bandage, got through the day with only a couple of uncomfortable moments. 3(?+?) robins today, including 1(?+?) juvenile and an adult not seen since the release. Excitement!
