A perfect day to be up among the Belmont Bunkers (have also been there in enough less perfect days to really appreciate one like this). Not a 'great' course but a good course on a map where it would be easy for a course-setter/controller pairing with not much experience to set a BAD course. All quite easy in the circles but some clever route choice legs, and I can forgive the couple of yellow-level controls given my only real lost time was on one of them - just because it's an easy leg doesn't mean you shouldn't CHECK YOUR DIRECTION!!! - so suddenly there were buildings appearing in the wrong places which was a little bit confusing. #2 also should have been messy but no real lost time - I passed the feature from above without seeing it but someone just behind me nicely beeped the control while I was still in earshot! Was trotting along fairly happily given the terrain, and had thoughts that I should have picked the long course after all, but enough people I'd expect to be 50% slower than were out over the hour, I made the right call!

Walking 2:00:00 [1]

Collecting the nice-beech-forest-except-the-shitty-bit-at-the-end line from Friday. As expected, apart from the added bonus slipperiness and soaking-ness, went even easier with being able to divert quite far from the bearing between stations. Although that almost backfired at one point - I was already committed to the brilliant plan of avoiding the crappy little spur between the last 2 by following the creek bed around before I remembered just how profusely ongaonga can grow in the creekbeds in this part of the world. However did find a much nicer and more direct route back to the meeting point compared to Friday's attempt.

Now, let's see if I can get myself back into training habits before final Oceania prep becomes the focus...
