Walking 3:30:00 [1]

So, I accidentally climbed Mt Te Aroha today, breaking just about every rule in the intention book in the process. Was planning on doing a loop around the lower slopes but when I passed the junction where I needed to turn off the main track, I didn't think that it looked right so carried on to the next junction. The next junction was with the service road that goes to the summit. At the summit. (And no, I didn't have a map with me). Thankfully another couple turned up at the summit not long after I did, as there were parts of the upper track that I wasn't too happy about going down by myself, when nobody knew where I was, so I joined them for the walk down.

Ignoring all the things that could have gone seriously wrong, it was an awesome day, and I think I'm excused from doing the calf exercises I'm due for today.

Run 35:00 [3]

Along the river from Piranha Park to Cobham drive and back with a bit of deviation - probably approaching 6km all up. Did the proper 3 stage thing, ie >5 mins warm up and down and stopping for stretches, but as I tried to keep the 20ish minute 'main course' at a fairly gentle pace (with some success) I haven't separated out the times.

Run 19:00 [4]

Ohope, along the beach until I felt it was getting too dark to find the access ways back off the beach, then probably trespassing thru someone's section to demonstrate that indeed it was getting too dark to find the access ways and back along the main road. Was a bit naughty - was supposed to be a gentle run, but by the time I was out on the road was pushing quite hard! But didn't regret it, even the naxt day.

Run 12:00 [3]

The naughtiest bit was that I hadn't stopped for a stretching session after 5 mins - a combination of not being able to read my watch in the gloom and a lack of convenient trees or lampposts on the beach. So before ending the run I made sure I did some good stretches and then a much more sedate 10ish minute loop. Ohope is nice.

Note

Exercises: 10 x 2 launch, 15 x 2 bent leg, 15 x eccentric. So far it feels like dropping down the launch ones (and raising the eccentrics to compensate) has made a difference to comfort levels!

Netball 30:00 [4]

Dammit, I'd decided this would be my last game as a 'regular' (because I've got very much over how seriously one or two of the others seem to get), but it was probably the most fun yet - against a very quick team with passing almost as loose as ours so lots of changing posession, and just the right amount of push and shove ;-). In A for the whole game (would have loved to have come off for the last 5 minutes but our sub got nabbed at the other end first. Got my 3rd or 4th goal in ..let's not say how many games...

I guess with the win last week and a fun one this week I can feel I'm leaving the team on a high note - and I've told Arna and Stace that they can still call upon me whenever the weekly round-up comes up short (hopefully that will only happen when the individuals that wind me up are unavailable!)

Note

15 x 2 pairs 'launch' calf raises
15 x 2 pairs bent leg calf raises
10 pairs eccentric

A bit of a week of disruption (trip back and forth to Whakatane, and one more to come) and generally feeling shattered (spent most of sunday, which could have been a good day for doing stuff, in bed). So I guess it was a good time for both calves to be the worst they have for a while? Think I'd been ramping the exercise numbers up a bit quickly, so cut down today especially on the eccentrics. But it seems to be the 'launches' that feel the worst so maybe I should decrease those and increase the others.
