Run 49:30 [3]

Pukemokemoke, one full loop including the summit (ca 32 mins) then one 'internal' loop. Was going to do a 2nd short loop, but really I was done. Way too much walking on the uphills. Don't know how much it would have helped if my plan of getting out before the heat hit had actually happened, but 1230 certainly wasn't the most sensible time to start this mission.

Orienteering (score event) 48:20 [4] ** 5.9 km (8:12 / km)
spiked:19/30c

Series closer at Cambridge. Thought I had a good plan but on reflection should have gone over the river first and left the flats west of the event centre til after the bonus. Was worried that I might spend too much time over the river and miss the bonus window, but there would have been more scope for dropping controls in the west if the total time was running out. As it is, i seemed to end up travelling a long distance on the 2nd loop for not many points and still came back LATE! Not helped by one or two navigatonal woopsies and discovering where a bit of work is needed on the map (running up and down some unmapped tracks) Not sure I would have got any more points had all gone to plan, but would have saved most if not all the penalties.

Run warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Run race 23:57 [5] 5.0 km (4:47 / km)

I've decided now that knocking off the pb is getting to be hard work the supplementary aim is that each new time will be one of the fastest 5 attempts, which I think I just did tonight (so sub 24's all the way now). Went out at a similar pace to the last couple of weeks (once I was through the slow traffic at the start) but this time it felt comfortable for the first km or 2, I just don't have 5km worth of that yet.
