Run 20:00 [2]
weight:72.3kg

Similar concept to yesterday but was allowed up to 20 mins run time so 2+3+5 minutes then again in reverse. Had the option of going for longer bursts but as I'd had those small niggles during the longer runs yesterday, thought I should play it relatively safe. A little discomfort right at the start of the first run, but then didn't notice anything. Even got cocky and did some of the last burst off the paved surfaces (...carefully). Thought I would struggle as I'd had yet another late night when I accidentally started watching the 7s world cup. (The thing with 7s is there's always 'just one more game') But by halfway through the runs things were feeling quite good, and I could just about bump this up to'intensity 3' but I don't want to encourage myself too much!

Walking 30:00 [1]

...the whole session was about 50 mins

Note

Have decided to start tracking my rankings according to the mystery statistician's monthly updates. I figure from where I'm at at the moment, at least some of these metrics can only improve once I'm racing again:

Overall: 197
Rank Score: 5542
Overall Men: 139
Age Class: 11

Run 15:00 [2]

Several 'bursts" of slow running in an arithmetic progression of 1 to 5 minutes with up to a couple of minutes brisk walk between each. After a couple of nights of very little sleep it was easy to stick to these rules, though it was hard to not pick up the pace on any downhills in the 4 and 5 minute sessions. A little bit of discomfort under the ankle injury in the longer runs but it was on and off rather than persistent. A little sore after I finished but no more than after some of the stretch/strength sessions that I've been dutifully doing (almost) every day.

Walking 35:00 [1]

about 5 minutes to warm up before starting the run-progression, a minute or two between each run, then walking back to where the car was parked from the end of the last run (which was a bit of a ways away, but that was intentional)

Note

Am under strict instructions from the physio to try some running this weekend. Very light running in short bursts, and no more than 15 mins total tomorrow, hopefully building the next day. The hard bit might be the self discipline to stick to those rules. Which is nice timing to have some good news after a little altercation last night which caused every little bit of negativity that I've ever felt since moving to Hamilton to come bubbling back up.

Stationary Bike intervals 29:00 [3] 18.1 km (1:36 / km)

Had been thinking all day I should do the penance-intervals workout but by the time I got home there was no way that was going to happen. So quite pleased with myself that I managed to talk myself into a half-penance, which took me almost perfectly to the end of the CD I was listening to too.

Stationary Bike intervals 6:00 [5]
weight:74.6kg

The one minute out of every five spent sprinting. Not sure if the last 2 reeeeally count, but it's the attempt that matters
