Orienteering 1:30:02 [3] *** 7.6 km (11:51 / km)
spiked:16/20c

First orienteering since nationals, OY at Waitarere. And waddayouknow, I sucked. Well, no, but not really focused or retaining information/plans at all. Was a bit of a worry that on the way to 1 I was struggling with the whole relating wiggly lines on the map to stuff the ground was doing thing. As well as being in a blah-state (mental and physical) it was blah-weather and a bit of a blah-course (not really their fault, within the limits imposed by tree-felling and nasty nasty electric fences it was probably as good as it was going to get). But lots of track running options and close attackpoints took a lot of the red out of the course. And by time includes maybe 7 minutes looking for the last control while the organisers were remembering there were still people out on that course! Must say something positive... I did spike the hardest control!

Run 16:30 [3]

Out just a little too late to catch the lovely pseudo-springness of the afternoon so a bit cold. One lap of Stella's block with Stella, then a second lap at probably a little over twice the distance by myself.

We had earlier made use of some of that lovely pseudo-springness to visit a small pond out the back of Massey to catch some new beasties for the Church Street Aquarium. Always good to have an excuse to indulge one's inner child!
