Peri-urban event at 3 mile bay (Taupo) which was perhaps subdivided with orienteers in mind, all the housing is on the flat terrace tops which were apparently previously overgrown with blackberry, while the nice wriggly gullies have been left as parkland. One hour time limit, so while I went out with the awareness I might have to drop at least one was quickly apparent it was a matter of how quickly the lot could be got. Pretty sure I optimised the route, except going clockwise would have made one control (point depression in a flat area)a lot easier than it was. Will also own up to a navigational error in one of the street bits (!!!!) turning up one street too early (hopefully the most embarassing thing I'll ever have to admit to on AP), and mucked about at the last control trying to figure which tree was which, when if I'd read the description sooner...
Tied with Grant D for first (beating a cyclist). Interestingly Lance timed us at 41 minutes, while my time's off my stopwatch. Have I been doing 5% more training than I realise??

Didn't feel I'd done enough work for the day, so once lunch had settled did the old Huka walkway again, turning back at the falls this time. Tried to take it fairly gentle, which usually wasn't too hard as I was feeling a little tied up. Backs of calves getting pretty tight, more so the left.
