Run 36:30 [3]

A few lengths of all but the steepest bits of Tutu road varying the pace a little (especially on the gentle downhills). Apart from everything that could feel a little niggly feeling a little niggly (and possibly a good sign, felt better when going faster) I'm feeling pretty good....

Walking 2:15:00 [1]

Up Mt Pureora and back with Treadgold. Nice walk though upper parts of the track are in an interesting state. Must go back on a better day, we were mostly in the sun at the summit but cold wind and visibilty was down under 50 km. May go for a run later but feeling mighty sleepy right now...

Run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Just a bit of a gentle run up and down Tutu Road, more than anything cause I was starting to feel the legs harden up a bit so thought I'd be more likely to give them a proper stretch and rub down if I turned them over a bit as well. Ran with no strapping tape at all on left foot and felt comfortable - not willing to wander too far off the road though.

Will be in bed MUCH sooner tonight - hopefully leading to a damn good sleep!

Run (50% terrain) 46:00 [3] *

A light run, mostly on Tutu but had noticed earlier in the day that both paddocks in the rock garden were bull-less for once, so just had to have a circuit in there as well. Took old courses on Apollo Hill and Acheron for something to read on the way round to think about route choice and traps. Neither course was particularly brilliant for route choice in the end - is this the infamous "PAPO course-setting" that the southerners on AP are always griping about? Virtual orienteering on Acheron is a much more pleasing experience than real orienteering - today everything worked and I spiked every control (and it was lovely and warm), which is not quite how I remember that race going in the real world ;-). I'm surprised I barely remember the Apollo Hill race though, it looks like it would also have been quite traumatic but for more physical reasons!

Right calf started to get very tight towards the end, after the climb up to the Tutu road crest from the highway. Will have to watch this, maybe no more steep uphills before race week.

Note

oops, probably not a good time to start getting lazy, but thought I should process a few bug samples before going for a run... and apparently time flies when you're doing a tedious job under the influence of alcohol fumes. Better make up for it tomorrow!
