Run (mostly terrain) 44:00 [3]

Nice day - even had the polypro off by the time worktime was over. Went out and played in the sultry (by Benneydale heights standards) evening & had some fun chasing bunnies and turkeys and the odd sheep around. Started pretty sluggish but got better quickly.

There are likely to be students sleeping in the office for the next couple of weeks (no, not continuously!) so updates here might be getting a little less "immediate" for a while.

Run (mostly terrain) 25:00 [3]

Easy pace, past the quarry down towards the old coal mine, zigzagging round a bit to play in the terrain. Didn't quite make it to the boundary, was just deciding whether to carry on or not when I noticed I was sharing a paddock with some beasts that looked suspiciously like the ones who gave me a few nervous moments a week or 2 back. Snuck back out before they saw me and decided that a runner might be even more fun to play with than a walker. Slopes not as slippery as I expected but had specifically worn o shoes rather than runners which probably helped.

Run intervals (Hill reps) 42:30 [4]

Just 5 reps this time (after the usual tempo run out to the highway) and even then I died halfway up each one. This was always going to be the last hard run before Labour weekend, but after that effort I'm definitely officialy tapering as of now...

The big news this week is that birdman and flatmate have officialy gone rural, with the arrival of Mildred, Mildred, Consuela and Mildred, whose role in life is to provide us with protein. At least one of them (the smart money's on Mildred) has realised that we're not too fussed whether this is a long term or short term arrangement, and the first eggs have already appeared.

Note

Unfortunately the same torrential rain that curtailed any outdoor work today, and therefore left me with far more energy at the end of the day than usual, also made the thought of stepping outside for a run very unappealing (or stepping outside for any reason, really). Some might see this as the first appearance of the dreaded weak excuse here, but you weren't there to see just how wet things were getting.
