Netball 20:00 [3]

9pm is a silly time for a game, which is why I'm wide awake with nothing better to do than kick this log back into 'action'. Played the whole 1st half in Attack, then some of the 2nd on D. We're kind of starting to look like we know what we're doing for brief moments, this meant a lot more running around on my part compared to the previous games though.

Note

Leg complaining a bit after yesterday's hike, so wasn't enthused by the idea of going actual orienteering at Old Mountain Road

Orienteering (course setting) 3:30:00 [1]

Checking control sites and other stuff with Rob for the NI Schools Relay. Only minor adjustments need making so I'm happy. Would love for there to be less fences on the map, but thankfully I'm not supposed to be setting anything red. I'm also not supposed to love grazed native forest, but I hope the seniors enjoy their brief trip into it as much as I did.

Netball 15:00 [2]

Game 2, from memory played all or most of the first half (in D) but then spent the rest of the game trying to find some ice then all but sitting on our captain to make sure she didn't go back on court after hurting her foot in a bad landing. Had some moments.

Stationary Bike 25:00 [3]

Trying this as an option, all good for 20 minutes then the calf started to tighten so gently eased off for another 5. Not frightened off doing more of this, just been a bit short of opportunity since.

Netball 15:00 [1]

And work suddenly has a social indoor netball team, which I signed up for before leg-recovery started to go backwards. Team sports and ball sports haven't really been my thing in the past (that whole hand-eye-co-ordination thing) but it's pretty clear we're playing for fun rather than to win games (thankfully). And there may have been other motivations involved when I put my hand up... Anyway game 1, I didn't think I ought to be playing but figured I should put in an appearance for team spirit sake (and get a feel for how the rules differ from real netball) - but somehow got subbed in for a couple of cameos at either end of the court. Possibly took more passes than gave away penalties....

Note

Feeling a bit cheerier today after discovering the owners of the farm that I am settng a relay have anticipated this use and by careful layout of fencing and gates have created the perfect start/finish/transition area just where I most wanted it.

Run 15:00 [3]

One giant leap backwards. Aiming for a 40 minute run, but 15 minutes in the calf got very painfully tight. Need to get this sorted before I can put anything more on the upcoming list. So, no forest run in Rotorua this weekend, probably no TONIC, and possibly no nationals. Also need to have a frank discussion with my physio about my opinion of some of the treatment regime. Feeling pretty sucky.

Run 35:00 [3]

I was at home, my car was in Ham East where I'd left it last night, so the sensible way (in my world) to collect it was to run over, obviously. Wasn't sure I'd make it if I started from home, so got Jase to drop me off near the mosque which meant I didn't have too far to go to make it a mostly riverside run. And was a complete fluke that that made the run-time the figure I had been aiming for. Although there was a bit of walking (which i think had more to do with not much sleep last night than being 2nd run in 2 days) was mostly comfortable, and probably would have coped with the extra distance from home (just would have been much less pleasant). Calf tightness only noticeable on some of the sharper uphills, and the first time I dropped down to a walk. Definitely time for some new in-soles though - thankfully I see my podiatrist on tuesday.

Run 30:30 [3]

My motivation-fairy is apparently back after a short holiday. Unfortunately while it was gone, the CBF-demon filled in for it. So I was worried I might have gone backwards a bit, but apparently can still handle a 30 min easy run around the hood with no major issues.
