Run 16:30 [3]

Out just a little too late to catch the lovely pseudo-springness of the afternoon so a bit cold. One lap of Stella's block with Stella, then a second lap at probably a little over twice the distance by myself.

We had earlier made use of some of that lovely pseudo-springness to visit a small pond out the back of Massey to catch some new beasties for the Church Street Aquarium. Always good to have an excuse to indulge one's inner child!

Run 24:00 [3]

From dropping car into garage to campus. Felt horrible by about halfway, could be coming down with something but I'd rather blame the sleep account being a bit on the low side, or the weather being miserably wet, or the intersection of having had not enough breakfast but too recently beforehand. So while I would have liked to take some long diversions to get to a more useful length, just wasn't happening

Note

Damn, had been doing so (relatively) well. I could blame just running out of time today but my time management skills today probably still makes it my fault, and there was a window of opportunity in the late afternoon that I seem to have quietly ignored. So it appears that....

I am a fat lazy slob.

Walking 1:45:00 [1]

Was a nice day. We went for a short walk. We tended to take the longer option at every decision point. Suddenly we'd been out for quite a while longer than intended. I'm not sure this counts as a workout, but it's probably the reason I'm feeling disinclined to go out again for a run now.

Run 11:00 [3]

Feeling stiff and tired after a sleepless night so knew I wouldn't be up for a proper length run, but did get talked into believing I needed a quick blast. So two laps of the block, one at Stella-pace and one at Nic-pace. Bit of a worry that Nic-pace was only about a minute faster but I suppose that is 1 minute per just-over-a-km....

Run 27:00 [3]

Calf feeling a bit tight last night/this morning, but I really don't want to get out of the habit. Did an indirect lap of the campus, trying to avoid both paved surface and sharp hills, and keep a gentle pace. Was most successful on the first point, least successful on the last! And every little landscaped hill I saw was very tempting, some overly so. Included one 15 minute stretch without having to stop the watch for a walk.

Run warm up/down 11:00 [3]

Warming up literally for 6 minutes (management is getting a complaint regarding the lack of heat in the sun on an otherwise lovely day), then just managing 5 minutes of more than staggering for the trip back to the office

Run (Time trial) 24:35 [4] 5.0 km (4:55 / km)

Yep I am unfit right now. Good to have confirmation. Also after 5 km on a track I'm so glad to have chosen a sport where you actually get scenery and stuff to look at while running. All I had to watch was how far the girl training for India's commonwealth games tream trials was throwing her hammers - not far enough to reach the track thankfully.

Run 37:00 [3]

Oops, must have flicked my watch back on when I took it off. So apparently I've actually been running for over 4.5 hours and I'm not feeling the least bit tired! Unfortunately I remember that I DID stop my watch at about 37 minutes... Ran from Church St to Savage Cres via the river bank and esplanade, to pick up a strategically-left-behind-late-saturday-night car

Run 50:00 [2]

Ran home from 1st aid course on the other side of town, but indirect route - across to esplanade then along the riverbank until it got a bit too gloomy - which turned out to be just one exit short of the most convenient one. Very stop start, and as I had no stopwatch so couldn't stop it for the non-running bits I'll only rate this a "2". Probably a similar distance to what the run-commute to or from Massey would be, so I might be ready to start that up again soon

Run 40:00 [3]

While the weather was even more likely to cause sudden outbreaks of purchasing tickets to Darwin than last time, went out for a play. Wanted to go longer than last thursday but felt the lack of sleep over the last few days and lungs were well refrigerated after 10 minutes. Did explore an offshoot of the Turitea walkway which will be ignored as it just delivers a runner out to evil tarseal even faster, so did make for a slightly longer effort - and I had two stretches of about 10 minutes before having to stop the watch for walkies, so I call improvement!

Note

runs planned but stuff happened. important stuff so no need to call the fat lazy slob rule into play thank you very much.

Run 38:30 [3]

Ok let's try to kick something into action here (even if I am living in the one part of the world where a crisp frosty morning doesn't mean a nice sunny warm day ahead - brrrrrr!). From work out to Old West Rd then along Turitea walkway & back down to Massey & sort of looping back a longish way to the ecology wing. Still couldn't manage any more than a 10 minute stint before having to stop the watch for a walk, but I think none were shorter than about 7 or 8 minutes. And unlike the other attempts over the last few weeks this wasn't nearly-dead-flat. Plenty work to do but plenty time to do it.
