MTBO race (BOSS4) 1:15:20 [4] 9.0 km (8:22 / km)

BOSS4 at Wakefield (The Farm)

Really ordinary ride in a great little area.
Started badly due to my familiarity with the area. Looked at a track and somehow decided it was the one adjacent to the start. Rode off onto a minor track. It was faint but orgniser and setter AH had said that some were fairly indistinct on the ground.

Eventually it disappeared and I figured out where I actually was so rode back to the assembly area alread two and a half minutes lost.

Had some other monior error s but rode really slowly. Felt that was as fast as I could go.

Saw a red belly black on the track in front and had to stop suddenly as to not run over it. He was quite large but left in a hurry.

My route choice wasn't great and again I decided to push out my time and consequently lost 2 penalty points. Fairly bad placing overall.

Thanks to Andrew and Nicole especially since they had a lot of scrambling to do due to the sudden appearance of mine subsidence cracks in a central part of the map.

Thanks also to the landholder for helping clear the tracks. Brilliant.

Must do better at Boss5 (and tighten my map board.

Note

I've been picked up to complete a hot team in the O'Shea 2-Day.

Mapgirl is resting.

Street Event race 45:25 [3] 6.4 km (7:06 / km)
shoes: Asic Runners

Final Street event at Platsburg.

Ended up positioned fairly poorly in the results.
Thought I went a reasonably route, fairly circular, clockwise and dropping a lot in the middle.

Actually made a nav mistake as I was lazy and using map memory I shot past one street. This cost me about 200m and probably the late penalty point.

Saw Arthur and he was flying, especially for someone over halfway through their time limit.

Thanks to Peter for a fun course. I did draw this map and have some idea where things are but it doesn't really help propel you at any greater speed.

Too much walking again as I still feel crap and can't foresee when I mightn't. Training and weight loss, more sleep might help a tad.

Now for the Park series. At least I'm better at spotting orange and white flags rather than clues which I have a great degree of skill in not seeing.
