Easter Day 3 - Foxlow Flats

managed to run myself from 5th to 11th with a fatal loss of map contact on the long leg to #2 when I ended on the wrong hill / saddle / gully complex and could not for the life of me work out which bit I was on. So headed out to the track to relocate after wasting a bunch of time. Saw Ian F heading to the control but was not confident that he was going to rather than leaving the control so did not follow him, which would have saved at least 10 minutes.

Made small errors at #1 & #3 but clean through the rest even if the legs were shot and the motivation to overcome the tired legs was not there.

Overall a good set of maps and courses for Easter and I was happy with the first two days and a bit disappointed to bommb out so badly on the last day and miss the chance of a top 5 place.

Easter 3 Day - Day 2 - Murdering shed

Last starter in the M65. Managed to pass a couple of people who started in front of me on the way to #1 but a little scrappy around the control. The 2nd was down thhe creek so ran in the creek and it was quite clear and then into true gully spur with the next 3 controls all coming up fine. 5-6 was a screw up and short 150-200m leg across the creek into a small gully, got caught in the green and saw several others searching, I went NW to look but it was higher upto the SW so took 9 minutes on the leg so around 7 minutes lost time. Also knocked my Si-Stick off my finger in the greeen and spent 30sec - 1 minute to find it. Several others also lost time so a point of discussion around the results board! Sorted out after that and pushed hard up and over the hill to #8 catching Russell Candy, Rob West and Peter Sheppard gave me motivation to go hard. Small mistakes on 11 and 13 (the last control) to finish in 5th on the day, which was better than I thought it would be after the mistake at #6

Not sure what place over the two days yet, but tomorrow is more of the same area so need to stay focused for the last day.

Easter Day 1 Isaacs Ridge

Steep hillside in the suburbs of Canberra. Wicked steep climb to the start and then weaving back anf forth across the ridge.

Slow to start and took a longer route than required to the 1st control and relative too others lost a couple of minutes on the fastest split, but no navigation issues. Steady run after that with no significant errors and with others making significant mistakes at various controls made it up to 1st place by control 12 and held on for a win

Easter 3 Day day -1 Prologue Sprint

Ran Hard 2 which was the W21E course but with lots of runners around plenty of helpful people ahead to pick the tricky routes through the buildings. A bit slow through some of the building complexes trying to work out the viable routes that did not cross the OOB even with the people to sight off.

49th out of around 150 and not too many old people ahead of me, but maybe they were running Hard 1
