Lovely run from Firbush. Found some nice forest trails a mix of runnable gravel ones and then a nice singletrack to throw myself down the hill on.

Armagh sprint quality.
Got stuck 5 sec in with a large cross able fence. Otherwise was very good. I'm not a fan of the requirement to read descriptions but this is biased by my inability to do it well.
Feeling okay and eased up towards the end as was confident.

Armagh Sprint Final.

Spent the 3 hours inbetween desperately trying to stay awake. Started the race and my brain just seemed fried. I had to look at the map so much as I kept forgetting. Felt like reading a book where you have to read the line repeatedly. It was embarrassing. My legs seemed okay but still losing a lot of time of running legs.

Night sprint race where you are set off in waves seperated by 3min. Started with a spanish score getting 5 of 7 controls in the school then across the road to do running loops with a short loop and long loop done early on and late on in the course. I started with Yannick and Dane in my heat but by the time I came out of the score I was a long way ahead and so ran the rest solo but with a lot of people around from the other waves.
Really fun course around the observatory and was really clean. Turned out I won the night sprint mass start gaffled world championships so pretty chuffed with that :)

Armagh 5k. Sub 15 attempt 1.

I was excited but quite nervous. Only found out on the start line that the rest of the weekend was the world orienteering championships and I was running against numerous world champions.
The aim for 2017 has been to run sub 15 by about June. I thought after a good winter this might be achievable but the last few weeks it hasn't really kicked off so was now looking forward to a race.

Set off mid-rear end and stuck behind Willy for about a lap and then went alongside for about a lap with Shminty and OKO just ahead. We worked well together and went through 2k at 6:00 according to the guy shouting. Nice. Then tried to move on and put a bit of time into Willy but knew I was on the edge. 3k in 9:02. Then I really started struggling and it still felt like a long way to go. At about 3.8k I hear Peter cheer go on Jonny go on Tim so assumed he was coming behind me turned out he was one person in front I just didn't recognise. Moved past him which gave a slight boost but then through 4k in 12:12. Shit blown it a bit. Head has gone and legs are filling just grinding up the hill and get round the bend and try and kick on and hear a go on Willy and he has sneaked up on my shoulder but evidently had some super secret energy and managed to push a little more to finish in 15:15.

I am happy. Not over the moon but relieved to put in a good performance after BUCS. I believe sub 15 is going to happen. Just need to find enough fast races.
