Didn't particularly enjoy it. Had to walk some of the first 3 controls as they were up on the moor, then went over on my ankle coming down a grassy slope to no.5 and as I was only jogging the nav was straightforward and I got a bit bored... But soon cheered up as someone had left flapjack in my helmet when I got back!

Very very close to crashing on the way back. Coming down from the cow and calf on Moor Road and realised very late I was coming into a tightish bend too fast. Put brakes on fairly hard but because it was wet just skidded, felt like I was going to fall but somehow managed to stay upright. Wasn't going to make the corner and knew I was going to go over a kerb but was more worried by what looked like a very steep drop 5m beyond the kerb. Gravel between kerb and drop didn't help much to slow me down as I kept skidding so jumped off my bike and somehow landed on my feet. All happened in about 4 seconds and only realised afterwards I'd crossed the opposite side of the road before hitting the kerb, just chance nothing was coming the other way. Very lucky.

First orienteering in 4 months and probably the last for a couple of months as well. Picked the best course to do, distance was about right and it was all in the interesting part of the area.

Going down the hill from the top Cookridge towards Bramhope came across a cyclists who'd just been knocked off his bike from someone pulling out of a side road. He was lying in the middle of the road, wasn't moving although was conscious. Knocked a bit of the motivation out of me...
