Running 2:50:00 [3] 20.0 km (8:30 / km) +700m 7:14 / km
shoes: Inov8 RocLite 315 no.3

Long run with Jack from Grasmere up Harrison Stickle (twice) and high raise.

Cloud was at about 500m so we were running in the cloud on the top so couldn't see that far. Jack was navigating and we had no compass. I headed off Harrison Stickle in the right direction then Jack took over and we turned to the left and left again and finally left again. He assured me we were heading the right way, I didn't believe him. Got to a steep climb supposedly up High Raise. Passed some guys in blue who looked very familiar then got to a path that led onto the top of a small rocky top which was Harrison Stickle, where we had just come from.

That was an extra 2k but I had wanted to run a bit further so wasn't that bothered. Made another mistake later going off High Raise but fortunately I decided not to follow Jack's suggestion of just following a stream down, we would have ended up in completely the wrong valley miles away from Grasmere.

Morale of the story. Carry a compass.

Rusland Show
'fell race' but was only 3k long. Felt good and was leading going up the hill but twice wasn't sure where I was going so had been caught back up by the 'top'. something strnage happened on the way down though. Was very slippy and then suddenly I just couldn't seem to bend my knees and ended up only just being able to jog back. Poor.

Hadn't eaten much since breakfast at 8 and was about 3 in the afternoon. Might have been one reason why.

Running 1:00 [5] 0.4 km (2:30 / km)

1600m was right after fell race so didn't do it. Not sure about time or exact distance.

Back in Sheffield for a bit. Seems to have deleted what I wrote yesterday. Bit further than I intended. Lots more climb than in porters brook but Rivelin is much nicer. Would be good to find a route I could run at a higher pace on though.

Wearing in a new pair of invo8s, slight changes than on these to previous pairs of 315s.
