Orienteering (Clydach Terrace) 1:00:47 [3] 6.2 km (9:48 / km)
ahr:171 max:190 slept:7.0 (injured) (sick) shoes: VJ Bold

SHI relay - Ireland 1 - 1st leg - 8/10 overall

Me - Niamh Corbett - Ruth Lynam

Very possibly the largest age range in a relay team at the Home Internationals. Chosen from previous days results. Worried about the knee, but it caused no bother when running.

Again mixed feelings about this result. Took a safe route to #1 leading the pack, but then got confused by re-entrants and managed to punch the control nearly last, ugh. Nevertheless, I reeled people back in over the following few legs on the fast terrain and was with the leading pack heading to #7.

Then my race ended as I went to the wrong gaffle (a beacon in the skyline) took too long to get my correct control and was running on my own for the rest of the course. My pace dropped and I was scrappier, esp with #11. Disappointed to be dropped suddenly.

Hit my maximum heart rate for the entire first leg, so think I must have been picking up someone else monitor too while we were grouped. I wasn't pushing that hard!
Ran 8.07 km.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [2]
shoes: VJ Bold

Slight warm-up to and around start area. Followed by stretching.

Orienteering race (Merthyr Common) 1:44:58 [5] 10.6 km (9:54 / km)
ahr:164 max:181 (injured) shoes: VJ Bold

SHI Individual - W21 - 16/20

Well, I leave this race with mixed feelings and a buggered knee. I was happy with my pace and navigation for majority of the course...but managed to completely mess it all on control #3 and #7. Lost about 20 in total.

#3 completely my fault getting distracted and losing focus on the long leg,
#7 kind of unfortunate - I relocated mulitple times to the correct area but couldn't pick out the ditch end until I eventually spotted the kite stuck in amongst some ferns - frustrating.

To top it off I knackered my right knee on a rock on route to #12 and had to walk/jog the rest of the course. Worried about the relays now.
Ran 12.9 km.

Making up for yesterday.

Note
slept:4.0

Woke up suddenly in the middle of the night, and after failing to get back to sleep for 2 hours decided to head into Uni when it opened at 6.
Would have worked out handy as I had lots of work to do, but then my swipe card didn't work to get into my building so had to wait over an hour before asking some randomer to swipe me in. Ugh.
6 PM

Running (Phoenix Pk Kyber) 42:09 [2] 7.4 km (5:42 / km)
ahr:143 max:161 shoes: Asics Gel Stratus 3

Knackered after my long day and the uphills felt difficult, even for an easy run, but I picked up and felt better along the way.

Running tempo (Kilmainham & West) 56:45 [3] 10.5 km (5:24 / km)
ahr:143 max:161 slept:8.5 shoes: Asics Gel Stratus 3

Easy run with bursts every 5 min - 1, 2, 3, 3, 2, 1, 3 min

Longer than planned because it was a random unplanned route and I didn't really know where I was half the time. Eventually hit Kylemore and headed back via the Naas Road. Bursts got faster towards the end in my efforts to get home sooner!
Felt surprisingly good even though it was a long, tough day at work. Was glad I slept in instead of going swimming as planned.

Jogging around on my own while the rest were standing chatting.
Followed by drills.

ahr:174 max:181 shoes: Asics Duomax Ladies

Pyramid session
250-500-750-1000-750-500-250m/ random

Same as last week. I felt better running them though. Think yesterday's rest did me the world of good. Wasn't looking forward to them at all, but they were well worth it.
7 PM

slept:9.0 (rest day)

Yey. Easy week. My legs really need it. Random aches all over the place.

Had still meant to do technical training until the weather turned. Oh well, my week just got easier!
