McWilliams round, the return.
I've entered the Dark Mountains next month and my partner asked if I fancied a long training run and suggested this. We then saw Katherine Davies and John Butter has ran 6:22 the day before so we were a bit concerned as we should beat her.
Set off at 6:30 to get some headtorch running in and sun rose about an hour or so in as we were leaving Hethpool. The climb up to the ridge was fine and along most of the ridge I felt good. Hit a low after The Shill but managed to rally back up to Mark by the flags. Felt good on the flags and had to wait up to get the Chevvy line. Good descent and decent climb and we were up Hedgehope. I was feeling good on this stretch but Mark was not so had to hold back till we got to the decent toward the Carey Burn. I then had another low and dropped right back so stuffed tonnes in my mouth and got moving again by the Hell Path then just cruised in with Mark suffering again on the faster stuff.
Good day out, 2nd fastest time and winter record apparently. There's more to come I feel.
