Fell running 6:35:00 [3] 30.3 km (13:02 / km) +2430m 9:18 / km
shoes: Innov8 Xtalon 2017

From the car at the bottom of Pen y Pas up to the Pyg track and through the hordes to Snowdon. Back along Crib Goch contra-flow bumping in to Toddles and a giddy Wright at the base of Crib y Ddysgol raving about the ridge. Got along it almost too quickly without realising, jogging along the crest throughout. Dropped down the alternate ridge on some epic scree running in to a hollow and on to the road to Llanberis. Road run before climbing back up Eilidh Fawr which I just hated every minute off. Then ridge running and becoming increasing slower across the Glyders to Glyder Fach where we decided there wasn't enough day left to go over the Carneddau to Milos car and dropped down the Miners track back to my car.

Great day out with Millar but struggling to keep going after about 5hours or so. Pretty epic tanlines.

Weets English Champs 57th
JackW reccied this last week and told me it was 'perfect for me' so didn't really expect much. Once the starter had pulled us back far enough we were off on a very muggy day. Set off just behind Pete H and Steve F. Made it up past Katie and Jacks Mum where I had decided it would probably be a bad day and subsequently started to slip backwards and at the top of the first climb ended up with Spyke and John Hunt amongst others but still 4th Ambleside counter. Kept it calm down the road with the occasional shout from Todd behind then hard turn back up the hill as the thunder and lightning started. Struggled to get in to any rhythm on the climb and couldn't pull back away from Spyke or John despite a cheeky line cut from JackW at a stile. Todds sporadic encouragement kept becoming louder and closer which was worrying but hit the top with Jon Rylance as 4/5th Amblesider and set off to enjoy the only real fell running section of the race. A nice quick descent taking back a fair few place before an equally sharp pull back up to the ridge. Could see Tom Gibbs not too far in front but wanted to try catch up Mark Roberts by the end. Put in a good effort on the second good descent with Noah (Parkinsons mate) just behind and closed quite a lot on Mark. But then my long term nemesis struck....a road section after eyeballs out descending. I cannot do these to save my life! Dropped about 30s to JohnR and Todd finally caught me up as we got in to a little Ambleside grouppetto to coax me up the hill. As soon as we got back off road I was fine again and managed to pull back away from Todd by 30s on the long downhill road section and just managed to pip a P&B runner on the line which was satisfying despite nearly running straight in to a fence as I couldn't slow down in time.

Need to do a) more speedwork as that was hell and b) long fast descents followed by a road!

Also got Barber'd (by the other one!)

Fell running warm up/down 25:00 [3] 4.0 km (6:15 / km) +150m 5:16 / km

Steady with Jack beforehand up the road and back then a sort of cool down with Jack and the Elk before a longer one with Todd and Jack and the Elk for a little bit.

Note

Resting the ankle/achilles whilst loosening off my glute/hamstring. Making some improvements should be fine for the weekend

Note

Sore achilles again tonight when I tried to run, got about 50m from the house before deciding against. Was shattered this morning anyway so maybe a good thing
