Trail / Road Run 3:50:00 [3] 35.6 km (6:28 / km) +400m 6:07 / km

RTH Guiding
"Run Up" - Dufftown to Spey Bay
Lovely weather.
Glad of the early miles via the flat, old railway line from Dufftown to Craigellachie. Gentle tarmac climb and then more undulating tarmac as far as the Spey wasn't quite so comfortable but got a good rhythm going running with G. After lunch things became a little more of a toil particularly through the woodland paths after Fochabers when it became simply a matter of digging in and grinding things out. Stunning weather at Spey Bay and nice to have a wee paddle in the Moray Firth.

Really stuffed by the end but a great couple of days. No lasting damage done!

Trail 4:44:46 [3] 41.3 km (6:54 / km) +800m 6:17 / km

Guiding for the Run Up - Tomintoul to Dufftown. A new route for me. With JM and 10 others (4 Dutch, 2 Canadians)
Breezy but a good running temperature.
All good through Glenlivet and up the climb past the ruined cottages and until after the long descent into Glen Fiddich. Things started to get really tough after the lodge and along the busy tarmac road into Dufftown.
Survived the mileage in an ok state though as did pretty much everyone else which is what matters. A fair number of pretty weary folk. Glad to see the clock tower on what was a really good day.

Trail 40:00 [3]
shoes: Roclite 295

Academy time.
Somewhat weary and could have done with the rest but another 30 youngsters to keep happy. Splashing through the puddles out to the gliding strip. Glad to have JE out today to extend the quicker ones. With SR today too.

Orienteering race (SOL 5 Inshriach) 1:12:00 [5] 6.4 km (11:15 / km)
shoes: Mudclaw 300 b/r

Bit worried about right adductor beforehand and how it would perform in rough and tough Inshriach.
Aware of Dixie starting 2 mins behind but never saw him. Sneaked past when I was messing about in the chequerboard bit. Lost lots of time at 3, like several people, and 4 and then 8 having chosen a poor route through the grotty bit. Knackered by 8 but reasonably clean after that, if slow.
4th M60 behind the usual class of 57, Jethro, Dixie, and DonP, but ahead of Eng, Wal, and Ire VHI competitors. Maybe I should offer my services ;-).
