Trail / Terrain Run race (Cnoc Dubh night race) 39:23 [5] 7.4 km (5:19 / km) +226m 4:37 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 300 Gr/Bl

Really enjoyed it but paced it very poorly.
Felt very heavy legged after the Tuesday session and the night race yesterday so set off really conservatively. Once up the first and main hill I was feeling really good but couldn't get past folk on the single track and others were long gone. From Burn O'Vat onwards felt really strong and was catching folk all the way back. Overtook SaraH again just before the finish..third time in a row..she must be sick of me.
Lovely night..these races are fun.

Orienteering race (DNC #6 - Glen Dye) 51:00 [4] 5.0 km (10:12 / km) +100m 9:16 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 300 Gr/Bl

Somewhat weary from a day of "logging" but ran reasonably well. So warm though..20 degree swing from running two days ago.
Lost 1 mins plus at 2 and quite a bit at 7, where the control wasn't where it should have been (checked the depression three times before skipping it), another 30s at 10 and 14. Happy, but just can't run fast enough these days.
Nice run out and glad we didn't head up the Glen Dye hill this time.

Note

7 was wrong so 6-7-8 legs removed and self re-instated. 7/13 on the Long course - beaten by a whole tribe of youngsters (HazelW still is to me!) and BigJon. Happy to beat the rest.

Note

Do all the weeks of training for a serious tilt at an overseas marathon and have it cancelled because of exceptional weather conditions. That's not good news.
Seriously unlucky if it happens twice in four years.
2012 New York - Hurricane Sandy
2016 Malaga - "..inclement weather and by force majeure" - serious flooding on Costa del Sol
Hard luck d.
