Braid Hills race 40 years on.
Proper cross country. Proper mud. More enjoyable now than I remember it being way back in the day. Felt in decent enough shape to have gone round a third lap this time. Had forgotten how single track the single track coming back was and got rather stuck behind slower folk having started off very steady. Too steady to make any impression on the orienteers race of JI, JR, CE and PC 90s ahead.
Good fun. Initial serious reservations about doing it put to bed.

No huge misses tonight. Lots of hesitations and frequently very slow to read the map detail though and a bit of faffing in the circle too. Very enjoyable run out in somewhere I should know as well as anyone. Happy enough.

Guiding for RTH
Round the Balmoral 10k course in reverse.
Recovery run but still tough up the hill with the fasties, Fraser and Alison. Far more leisurely down the far side and a gentle jog back to the castle once I'd let them go and let others catch up.
Made it before the wind and rain pretty much.
Need a rest.
