ahr:156 max:171 shoes: Pegasus 31 - blue/black

Guiding for RTH
Balmoral 15 route. Dreich but Balmoral is great in any weather especially with autumn colours. Warm today too.
With Simon and Fraser so a really good pace..probably too good for me.
Felt like I'd been in a race afterwards not a training run. Come back Jon, Sam et al.

Trail / Road Run 52:00 [4] 8.0 km (6:30 / km) +237m 5:40 / km
shoes: Pegasus 31 - blue/black

Guiding for RTH at Balmoral.
From castle: Alberts cairn loop coming back via John Brown. With Fraser, Simon and Alison. Going up some of the hills was a bit quick for me.

Orienteering race (DNC 1 Carlogie) 1:17:00 [4]
shoes: Mudclaw 300 b/r

Beaten up when I shouldn't have been.
1 and 2 fine then found myself completely off line going to 3 but found a lovely large boulder probably the one west of the correct one..then couldn't make the map fit the gate I was close to and the track I ended up on...more my eyesight than anything. Finally sorted that then 4-6 ok but missed 7 big time, confused by the big rides this time. 8-13 were pretty much ok although 10 was full of hesitations and very sloppy.
Very dreich and the undergrowth was very wet but easy to pass through, including the bracken so no real excuses..just incompetence upon my part. In fact a lot of the forest was nice and very runnable.Poorly prepared too though..kept having to retie my laces!

Walk 2:00:00 [2]

With AT and Dave
From Easter Balmoral up the track towards Loch Muick then branched off up the ridge to the east of Lochnagar burn. Ticked off the DR cp at the loch outflow, skirted the loch then up the Black Spout. Took the left branch and squeezed through the chock stone. A new route for me. Lunch partaken sat in the sun on Lochnagar summit. Clear all around again. Then down almost in a direct line for Gelder Shiel. Another piece in the newly refurbished bothy then back to the car.

22 km, 950m ascent, 5 hours.
Another good day!

Orienteering race (INVOC Anagach) 1:06:48 [5] 6.6 km (10:07 / km) +180m 8:54 / km
shoes: Mudclaw 300 b/r

Anagach, an area that never changes much and is always worth the trek over the hill. Especially so today with autumn colours at their finest and the marshes pretty dry. No faffing in windblow here.

Took a while to get into it but going ok eventually and felt to be running strongly through the heather and the ups and downs towards the end. Shame about the aberrations at 1 and 6.

Note

Family 10k record took a pasting.
